Mazda MX-5 RF

Bob Sacamano

i really like that, wonder if I can persuade Mrs S to have one?
Michael

I like it too. Need to get a go in one.
Racing Teatray

I want to like it, in fact I do like the concept a lot, but it suffers the same fate as the roadster in that it looks great from every angle other than directly from behind where it just looks oddly pinched and weak.

The Fiat 124 does it better for me.
BeN

I do like that.

The problem with the FIAT is it looks terrible from the front.

Agree.

Love the Mazda, though.

Me too - the Mazda is too droopy at the front and that swage line that rises up from the door just looks like it went wrong - a guy down the road has one and I'm afraid it hasn't improved with familiarity.

I struggle with the styling of the new MX5, I don't know what it is but I just can't put my finger on it and judging by the small amount that I see around, it makes me wonder whether it is selling particularly well.
Twelfth Monkey

I'm not a fan of the MX5, but it seems to me a full-on coupe would look better than either variant.
PG

I like that. More than the rag top. The extra rear bodywork somehow offset the droopy front and makes the car look more balanced. And the rear looks OK too.

If I squint, the side on roof up pictures reminds me a Datsun 240Z.

Me too.

I quite like it but I do admit that I have seen far fewer new shape MX5's around than I expected. maybe summer will result in more sales.
ds240

Personally, I think the proportions look awful and the styling not much better.

Maybe it will work on seeing it in the metal. I would take the soft top any day over this.

I don't think I've seen any!
tali

They did do one in the previous one ...

They don't look good in that shot - the roof looks too high and short. One to see in the metal.
