Life for Raikkonnen......

..... when he gets tired of F1?

Maybe this will keep him out of mischief!
Nice Guy Eddie

Proof if needed that the boy can still drive.

Yeah, well, I was just sayin' he can drive a bit, when he wants to!!

Bit like masel', really!!

I meant to reply to this when it was first posted.

I watched the rally highlights on Dave and when they interviewed Raikkonen he seemed alive and animated - just like Kovalainnen.

Cut to Valenthia and he was back to being unsmiling and monosyllabic.

How come he had a cap on when he got out of the crashed car? Those sponsors must really brainwash these drivers!!
Big TC

God I hate those caps.

I used to dream that if I became a formula 1 driver I'd have it written into my contract that I never had to wear one....

Dream on, dream on!
TimR

I noticed that immediately after the last Grand Prix they put a normal sized cap on him but by the time he was in the press conference he was wearing the comedy one again.

Did you also notice Barrichello putting on his (presumably sponsored) watch before going up to the podium?

Don't McLaren have a clean jacket that is styled like the top of the drivers race suit to go over their race suit for when they go into the top three end of race televised conference?

Yes and it's cut/pressed in such a way that all the logos are visible!!!

I'm sure I saw another teams driver with a similar top (Ferrari?) recently.  It's quite a smart idea really.

Was that in Finnish? I've seen a couple of clips of him being interviewed in his first language and he is a completely different man.

The watch on the podium thing - I've seen that with a few drivers. No-brainer from a personal sponsor's point of view. Must be a bugger remembering to do it, though.

No, it was in English - they did it before one of the earlier stages but also while he was in the stage standing next to his crashed Punto.

I expect the watch is placed inside the baseball cap in anticipation of both being worn on the podium.

Don't think you need to remember anything at that level of professional sport Eff1, you will have a whole team of people doing everything for you and you'll probably forget your own name after a while.

Am sure I've seen men in suits handing the watches to the drivers before the podium.
Scouse

If you carry on watching after they've parked when the camera's follow the drivers up to the podium you'll see them being given the caps and watches before stepping out. Not sure if it's by a team member or by one of the circuit staff.
Gooner

I remember last year when Lewis kept winning he was always given a mahoosive Tag to slap on before heading out to the podium. But then being an F1 driver does also seem to include the role of walking advert.
TimR

I was thinking of this thread immediately post-race so I kept my eyes peeled for the watch provider.

It came from the dodgy looking suited guy in the room where the wall was signed and he handed out the Bridgestone baseball caps with 1st, 2nd, 3rd on them too.
I noticed he was also present on the podium.

I think he only gave Rubens a watch though.

Probably for long service in F1 then.
