Lexus supercar unveiledhttp://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=20848
Good Lord! That price is astonishing!
There's no way in hell that looks like £336k's worth of motorcar. £65k's worth at a pinch.
It better be astonishingly good if it's to justify costing twice as much as the McLaren, SLS Gullwing or 458 Italia. Just imagine - you could have the Italia and the SLS in your garage. Or that Lexus. Hmmm....let me think...

I like it, but it definitely isn't worth that much.
It's still a Toyota after all.

Seems expensive to me. For the technology and spec £65k would be way too cheap - £120k would be more on the money.
I suppose unlike the Ferrari it would be reliable and well built.

£336k. That is the funniest thing I've read all day.
Clearly aimed at the moneyed up chav classes (aka premier footballers) then? I don't think even an investment banker would pay that much.

Maybe Lexus will offer gold and chrome as factory colour options?

€375k or £343k according to Autocar:

Sounds amazing, but that's a lot to pay for a noise!

What's with the asymmetric front wings in the Autocar pics? A bit odd as one side is quite a pronounced crease and the other is a smooth blend.

I think it look rank (spelt with a 'w'), no cohesion to the styling, its definately not pretty, and £340k....ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

I actually think the styling is the one thing they've got right. It makes the GT-R look positively dated and the offerings from Aston Martin and Ferrari boring.
Still can't believe the price though. (Then again it's a third of the price of the Aston Martin 177 and Bugatti Veyron, so maybe it's cheap at twice the price).

And it seems available in Pink.
All credibility down the shitter then.

They obviously had him in mind.

Yawn.
Supercars are getting dull. We need more crazy. Someone needs to develop a supercar with an 11 cylinder engine, with 3 turbos and 2 superchargers.
And the engine mounted 5 feet behind the back of the car.
The LF-A sounds like an F1 car, which means it does absolutely nothing for me.

Or a V7 engine where the cylinders on the "three" bank are 4/3 the size of the ones on the "four" bank.

Now we're talking.
We've had a V5, why not a V7?

Of course, I'm half expecting someone to tell me Honda did it on a motorbike 20 years ago ...
Or what about this baby?

It was never raced but I was always impressed by the idea of the 1.5 litre Coventry-Climax flat-16. I suspect that, with cylinders of less than 100cc, its thermal efficiency would have been abysmal. Even smaller, Honda produced a four-cylinder 125cc motorcycle engine and five-cylinder of the same size - the pistons in that must have been like thimbles.

Audi would still insist on bolting a gearbox & front diff of the quattro system to the back of it...

The 'value' of a car is always difficult to asses - at the end of the day I guess they're always set at what people are prepared to pay - BMW, Audi and Mercedes are I guess the masters of building up an 'image' so that people are prepared to pay more than they would for a similar car from a different manufacturer. How often do we hear, "there's no way I would pay £50,000 for a Ford/Vauxhall" - yet people are happy to pay that if a car has the right badge.
Having said all that I think Toyota have gaffed in making this look like an updated Supra if they want to charge supercar money for it.

They're only going to make 500 so, if they sell them all, the total revenue will be of the order of £170 million. I suspect they've spent more than that developing the car and building the production facilities. Admittedly, they may have opportunities to use those facilities for furure things, which should allow some mitigation of the cost.

All these 'hypercars' do nothing for me, Veyrons, Ascaris, Paganis, Konigseggs, etc hold no interest at all.
