Interesting. Who knows, SAAB may start building a truly desirable car in a few years time.

Why would they suddenly do that, they haven't up till now...?
Good maybe, but desirable?

My dad thought his 95 Aero was desirable, but that was almost 10 years ago and he had just turned 50!!
Mind you, I was in my 20s and I thought it was a great car. I remember Clarkson being quite fond of it as well.
Other than that I'm struggling, I think you have to go back a fair few years. I had a 93 TID 150 Vector Sport for a few days about 4 years ago and was very dissapointed. I certainly didn't desire it!

I think the original 80's Turbos were desirable.

I like the old 9000 Carlsson

I'd quite happily have a 9000 Aero. In fact, I may trot over to Autotrader to find one.

Because they're not being dragged down by the GM monolith any more?
I'm impressed by the way CvK comes across in the interview - aware of what a tough job it'll be, but determined for Saab to establish its own niche, and with ideas of how to do it.

I hope Saab make a go of this new found independance and produce some quality motors, i've always had a soft spot for the old 900 turbos.
From an outsiders viewpoint the only thing GM seemed to do was slip an anvil round their neck and ask them to tread water.

The original small-bumpered 99 was my favourite: I loved the wraparound windscreen, and the concave shape of the rear window and boot lid. And the alloys on the original Turbo.

+1
I think I've mentioned elsewhere I had a Saab 90 some years ago, which was similar to the 99 as I recall. Did me alright for £50!!

You're going back a bit there, Nick. Even I was still at school when that came out.
