Keystone Cop Scrapes Mondeo

Well, if anyone is going to back into your car in a car park, I suppose a trainee police officer, with tutor on board, is a good choice, since they are unlikely to leg it in the hope that nobody saw them.

This comedy event happened last Wednesday at our regional office in Telford. I had gone over the road to the pub for a 'working lunch' with a colleague when we get a call from the office to say that someone has backed into my car. I stroll back to find Keystone Dibble very aplogetic, while his tutor is on the phone. He was on training with the National Policing Improvment Agency (no, I had never heard of them either) and has no doubt identified a training need for use of door mirrors. Only very, very minor damage to both cars but, because his (unmarked) Avensis is a police owned car it all had to be formally reported as an incident. At one point it even looked like a squad car might attend, but eventually they thought better of it.  Details were exchanged in a very formal and business like manner, as if it was motorway pile up, then we went on our way.

Incidentally, I already have the accident chasers apparently on the case, fighting with each other over who is going to give me a courtesy car while the few scratches are touched up.
