It's just a bit of mud!!

As you'll know by now, most of the Scottish contingent met up at Madtrax buggy emporium for a joint mini-meet/celebration of Big TC's birthday.

These first few are of the man himself - be warned though, they are a bit "dirty"!!!

Getting a little sideways here - the old banger racing techniques coming in to play!

Grabbing some air.......

This chap was in the final with Trev, Jasper and Darth's brother........ he got it off the ground too!

Boxer6

Big TC's daughter got in on the act, and very well she did, too......

Things got very close in the Final.........

Darth's brother, just before crossing the line......

A quick snap of three of our gladiators immediately post-race ..... like I said, a bit dirty!!

Lastly, the over-riding impression I had of the day (apart from the football-sized bit of mud I got in my eye)....

I have to say, a great deal of fun was had by one and all. In addition to Darth's brother making up the driving numbers, Mrs Jasper, Mrs Boxer6 and Miss BigTC all put in sterling performances without one word of demurral.

We also met JohnC, who was able to pop in  for an hour, though sadfly was unable to fully particiapte due to other commitments. Really nice chap, and a pleasure to put another face to a name.

Biggest laugh: DB's brother trying to open the bottle of bubbly at the end.

Biggest downer: None, other than I had to pull out after only one race - bit of a bummer, that.

Thanks everyone for a fab day!
Big TC

I'm still using the eyedrops!

You cannot imagine how uncomfortable it is having mud, grit and water being sprayed directly into your eyes, whilst trying to negotiate yourself safely around a 'track' in close proximity to 3 other nutters doing the same things... And I had 6 bloody races, all-in-all.

Nonetheless, a brilliant day, which rivalled the mudbath I had in Turkey recently.....

I'll stick some of my pics up later.
JohnC

It was good to meet you guys and your other halves/families.

I don't think you could have been any dirtier had you just got out and rolled around in it but it looked good fun.

I made it back to house viewing clean and tidy, which is more than can be said for the dump that we viewed.

Hopefully I will make it to the next meet and Ian I will take you out in the car powered by "the devil's fuel" to try and dispel a few of those myths. I hope you are feeling a bit better now and can see where you are going!
DarthBalls

Great pictures. Made me laugh for about 10 minutes.

I've never been that dirty in my life before - dirt in my eyes, mouth and ears too. I've spent the rest of the weekend bathing my eyes.

Had a nice meal at The Black Bear with my brother and Trev and family too.
Big TC

Here's a few of my pics:

This is my daughter, I think, just setting off from the 'pits':

and later on in the race:

I have NO idea who this is:

Me old mate Jasper:

I think this is darth:

And lastly, two people who deseve medals for competing, however briefly. Ian (Boxer6), who's in the middle of radiotherapy, lets not forget:

and his lovely partner Helen, who recently suffered a broken rib or two...

It was great to meet JohnC as well - hopefully he'll be part of the posse from now on...
BeN

Blimey. Looks like an awful lot of fun.

I can, we never used to have doors on the buggy...

What about a windscreen?
Big TC

Where's your pics, Darth?

Come on, 268bhp on mud, how often do you think it's actually going forwards compared to sideways?

I only took a few with Jasper's camera when he was in the first race. My own camera stayed in my hand, er I mean man bag in the car.

Pah - sounds positively FG laden compared to a Rally Kart!

Seriously though, a 268bhp buggy in the mud must be incredible.

By heck, what do they do, turn a hose on you at the end?
Jasper

That would have been very welcome.

I wish! The only thing that they cleaned were the karts, in between each race!

If only! I 'rinsed' my hair with Bucks Fizz and we were all fighting over the one clean water tap in the porta-loo!

When Darth, his bro and I got to a Beefeater for lunch, we headed straight for the bogs where we all had to practicly have a stand-up wash-hand basin bath!

After the first race, I politely asked if there was clean water to rinse off in - to be pointed towards a bucket of water, which contained liquid mud (there was no way you could describe it as 'water')

Would I do it again? Yep, without a second thought.

I was trying so hard to get the kart as high as possible, different angles of approach, trying mostly in vain to get good speed out of the bottom corner. I do wonder if it's me in this picture, the low visor was something I employed early on but I think everybody was by the end. Good flying for a fatty if it was!

It may well be you, mate. I was trying to work it out by gauging who was who from the shots where I was sure, but I'm not surprised if I got it wrong. I know I got at least two shots of Mel, but I can't find her in the set!!
Blarno

Looks like awesome fun. I love mud!

Nope - I only took shots using Jasper's camera at the start.
TimR

Looks like good fun.

How fast are those things?
gonnabuildabuggy

looks like a great time was had by all!

Not very quick at all. I would reckon they are slower the track karts.
TimR

Probably just as well really.

Looks like my hair wouldnt've got too dirty but my face clearly would.
You all look like Hollywood starlets caught with a pre-sleep treatment on the face

It's not even like I'm suggesting any or all of you (the 'gentlemen' that were there, that is) could do with that kind of treatment
