Hotel websites

Any recommendations?  Need to book a hotel for Mrs 12th's birthday as we're attending what the younger folk refer to as a 'gig'.

I use Hotels.com (no seriously) as they have a loyalty programme which can be quite useful as it nets you a free room once you hit a certain number of nights.

If you're just comparing prices, Trivago.com is pretty good.
Grampa

I usually google "where to stay in name of town" as it seems to give the widest choice.
Martin

I mainly use Hotels.com as their prices are competitive plus I get 8+% cashback (TopCashback.com) and their rewards scheme gives you another 10% back.  If you don't want to join their rewards scheme then you can usually get a better % cashback.

If I were you, I'd find the best hotel through TripAdvisor, which will give you a list of all the prices available inc booking direct.  I always use that to make my decision on where to stay and never been disappointed.
PG

Trip Adviser, Trivago and sometimes Expedia.

Thanks, one and all.  Place selected, no frills.  Gig then bars!

You going to tell us who it is then?!

UK or abroad?

Laterooms.com can turn up some good delas but hotels.com is generally as good.  I try to stay at Best Western if possible as I have a loyalty card - not that I spend many nights a year in a hotel, typically under 10 in a year. Have also used Premier Inn for a basic stay but they are not always competitive on prices, and their breakfasts are disproportionately expensive extras
Racing Teatray

Late to this but I nearly always use Booking.com. May not be the cheapest but I've yet to have a bad experience over the years.

Unless it's for B&Bs, in which case I recommend Sawdays guide, which is usually a guarantee of quality.
Big Blue

I have the Marriott app. That suffices for city centre stays. Failing that Expedia.

The last 2 trips we did, we AIRBNB'd them....one was nearly a disaster (xmas eve in NY, locked out of the apartment and the owner in San Francisco), but it worked out in the end, a nice small apartment in Chelsea village. The 2nd one was in Reykjavik, turned out to be a granny annex all to ourselves, the cost was cheaper than a hotel in both instances.

I too have used Booking.com very successfully - although irritatingly their rates at Holiday Inn don't appear to attract the loyalty scheme nights/points (they do for Hilton)

No!  They are watching my every move!  It'll be a good week, though.  Her favourite band followed by mine in the space of two days.

We're lucky as we can normally kill those two birds with one stone.

Donny and Marie Osmond still occasionally tour together.
