A lot more people would watch rallying if it had cars like that

I had exactly the same thought! Polos and DS3s just don't have the same impact, even when converted to WRC cars.

I'm in two minds. While a GT3 looks very impressive sliding around a rally stage, there's something compelling about 'ordinary' cars competing in motorsport. That was the BTCC's great appeal in its 90s heyday - chances are that you'd arrived at the track in the roadgoing version of one of the cars on the grid.

It's going well....

"@harrismonkey: Richard @Tuthill_Porsche getting into his stride. Porsche 997 GT3 quicker than a Fiesta WRC on S13 Rally Deutschland!!"

Yes, but now it's more likely that your mum will turn up at the supermarket in the road going version of a BTCC / WRC car!

I loved it when it was SD1s then Sierra Cosworths and M3s battling it out, although I did have a Cavalier around the time John Cleland drove one.
