Great News (Potentially)

I don't know if you remember the fire that occurred back in February.

Anyhow, there have been a few insurance issues but: -

I have just had an email from the lawyer dealing with my fire insurance claim from February this year. Our forensic expert's report is favourable which enables the lawyer to issue a costs insurance policy to enable us to proceed with the claim.

He has to look at the report in detail on Monday but seeing as he emailed me this afternoon I can't see any major problems. This is a great load off my mind. I know that nothing is certain in legal proceedings but I have been reliably informed that it is most likely the case will be settled out of Court fairly quickly.

Blimey, that long ago.

Fingers crossed it's A-OK.

That sounds like a big positive step forward. Good news!

Potentially good news indeed.

More fingers crossed here, too!

Why on earth do things like this take so long to resolve?
Greedy lawyers on a £-by-hour arrangement?

The insurance company refused the claim stating breach of security warranty - they say the arsonists entered the building through an open rear door which can only be opened from the inside.

Our forensic scientist has found two other possible routes of entry that the insurers own investigators "failed" to find.

Basically, the legal costs of taking a large claim to court could be several hundred thousand pounds which I can't afford to do.  However, the lawyer will do it on a no win no fee basis and insure the insurance company's legal costs should we lose.  It has taken some time to get to this stage as obviously they need to be sure we will win.

It's more a case of greedy insurers!

Sounds like great news.

Lets hope they drop their silliness, do the right thing and settle like men.
