Gorgeous Jag

Ok - it's just Autocar's guess at how the next XJ will look (the image on the magazine cover) - but if it doesn't look like this, then Jaguar should employ Autocar's artist: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news...autocar/autocar-magazine-9-march--out-now?utm_medium=EMAIL&utm_campaign=Enews%20bulletins&utm_content=ACAR%20Enews%20Bulletin%20working%20Extra%20story%20subs%20(10.03.2016)::link5_2&utm_source=20160310

Trouble is, Autocar 'designers' are unrestricted by inconveniences like headroom.

The image just looks like a badly photoshopped 'chopped and slammed existing XJ.

That's your idea of a bad Photoshop?  the level skill of computer illustration of whoever does these illustrations is pretty rare I would say.
PhilD

Looks pretty basic to me!

I reads the article and looked at the picture. It is very gorgeous. Perhaps a proper Merc CLS challenger? But Autocar suggest it is to be a competitor to the Panamera. Somehow I can't see it being a hatchback, although I've always thought that the replacement for the XK should be a Panamera natured car - 4 proper seats, liftback - basically a  stretched XK / F Type. With AWD it would even be a Ferrari FF (sorry forget what it is now called...) competitor.
Michael

That's not an impressive photochop. It's also ridiculously unrealistic as those wheels would need to be about thirty inches.

Didn't Jaguar run an advertising campaign a few years back using the song "Because You're Gorgeous" ?

He already moonlights for Project Khan by the looks of those wheels!

It looks quite cool, though. I would say an XJ should be a competitor for a Panamera or a CLS, in that the rear is comfortable enough to passenger in as a chauffeured exec and the front seat is cool enough to drive it yourself without looking like said chauffeur.

I totally agree. If Jaguar tries to do an S Class it is always going to come away 2nd best but something with style, comfort and sporting credentials might just bring it success. The CLS was a success and that was just a restyled E Class. If Jaguar can get the styling right and add a few of the other Jag strengths, it will be very good.
Twelfth Monkey

That's fucking lovely, that is.
Martin

I'd be very interested if that's what they end up doing

Wow some of you lot are tough - for someone who spends maybe 25% - 30% of my working life Photoshopping, I can tell you that getting perspective that good especially for curved panels, getting the detail in the grille and getting the reflections right, not to mention the fine details when you see the large image inside the magazine, this guy is an expert, not to mention a great draughtsman.
Michael

If you want someone to do a better job sometime let me know. My rates would make a London plumber blush, however.
Nice Guy Eddie

Classic Michael, love it!
