Golf 7 1.4TSI

Took me mum's car out last night for a little jaunt to the shops, as it had been sat idle on the drive for a few months. Unfortunately it has been modified for her disability and isn't standard. The steering is so assisted that I reckon you could use a feather to turn the wheel, so there is absolutely no clue whatsoever as to what the front wheels are doing.

Apart from that, the cabin was nicely put together and very hushed inside. The car has start/stop on it and you couldn't notice it working, the engine was that smooth and quiet. The car had plenty enough poke, but the auto box (non DSG I assume, as there were no paddles) changed into high gears far too soon. Didn't like to push on, though, because of the disconnection from the road through the modified steering. The car seemed to corner OK, but you had no idea it was going to make it round until it did!

Anyway, it's had a run and the freshly inflated tyres have turned...

Exciting, then?

Interesting, shall we say! I reckon a manual with proper steering would've been alright and it did make me wanna try the GTI, especially after TG last night.

I'd imagine it would be a DSG, wouldn't it? I thought less 'sporty' models did without paddles.

I think that is correct.

Having now browsed the brochure it is definitely correct. Flappy paddles are only standard on the GT upwards.
