Gareth Southgate sacked...

With immediate effect.

The fans have been calling for this for some time but the message from Steve Gibson has always been that Southgate has his backing. They've lost three home games in a row, sometimes embarrassingly so but they won tonight, 2-0, so WTF?

But...shock or not he's gone and I can't really see a big name stepping in.

Bugger.

Bit of a strange "reward" for turning round a bad run; "Yes, you've done well and got us to 2nd in the League - now, fuck off, there's a good chap"!!

It is indeed an odd decision, with Boro second in the table.

Beating us at the moment is no indication of decent form though.
I think the fact that there were only approx 17000 has forced Gibsons hand, he isn't normally a hire and fire bloke is he?

Perhaps Gibson is a friend of Mike Ashley and has been reading his bestselling book 'How Not To Run a Football Club' by 'A Fat Bastard'.

Or perhaps not.

Isn't that usually how sackings work?

I'll agree that it is a strange dcecision, or at least the timing is strange.

Well, that's how it was reported on the radio and so that's what I posted.

The time it was announced was curious, something around midnight, and that might have been the reason for the wording.

Gordon Strachan is the new Boro boss:

Quite apt.  The former mamanger of Leeds, a duv 2 club, and former manager of one of Scotland's "big 2" moves his career on to a Championship side. Looks like he's the man for the job.
