First attempts at night photographyI went out between xmas and new year to try out my Canon EOS-400 with some night shots - I think they came out quite well! Any feedback welcome...
Taken on a very calm (and cold!) evening:
A dredging barge in the estuary a few nights earlier:
I know it's leaning! First time I've used the tripod. Can anyone straighten them for me?
I know these are a bit shaky - long shutter speed and didn't have my tripod:

Nice photos chap - I tried a few with my compact Panasonic DMC FZ18 - I've found I need a tripod to eleiminate as much blur as possible.
I think a camera like yours or the 450 model is my next purchase! They seem to take better action shots because of the speed of response than mine....or it might be just because I'm not very good!

The ones with the water are great. For the tripod, you can get small spirit levels from Jessops that sit in the hotshoe of the camera.

Thanks for the tip about the spirit level - I'll get one next time I'm in town.
This is the first time I've ventured away from Auto on the camera, I'm learning how to use the different settings little by little. I'm hoping to get down to the Estuary's harbour tomorrow evening, so should get some more practice.

I reckon that's the key - I've been practising a few night trail ones when the weather hasn't been foggy/raining

David, your second shot down is my favourite - though I'd crop out the small bit of beach, so the foreground is just the beautiful reflections in the water.
Try using Photoshop Elements to straighten you pics on the computer - it's quite easy to do!
