Fiat Cinquecento P reg Shiny green with a big fabric sunroofI was helping a friend move house on Saturday but had to work in the morning, so this was my plan. I drop my work's massive Crafter van off at his house at 8am, take his car to work, wait until 12 then drive back hopefully to find the van full of all his shite.
It was a good plan but I failed to factor in the Cinq element.
What a horrible little car. The central locking that would unlock the car but doesn't lock didn't prove to be a problem as I just left it unlocked all the time. Trying to fit both of my size 11 feet into the footwell proved more trying but was handy for heel and toeing. In fact, I think I could have used one foot on all three pedals at the same time.
The spindly column stalks were a surprise. The surprise being that they lasted the 5 mile journey to my work. It did go well as long as both wind and gravity were on my side (I never realised Edinburgh was so hilly) and the ride was on the comfy side but it would be a braver man than me to check it's handling limits. Kwik fit tyres have robbed it of any friendly handling trails it may once had.
At least on the way back it was sunny and I had a chance to get the (electric) roof back, it was stuck there for the rest of the journey but that just added to the fun.
On the bright side, the Crafter was full when I got there and was a pleasure to drive.

Hurray for 41bhp of 900cc Italian Stalion! Believe it or not they did a 700cc version on the continent with (from memory) 34bhp.
I've always liked the Cinq, getting seriously damp over Broom Yellow Sporting's, but a five minute spin in a Seicento Sporting put paid to ever owning one (no, size 11 feet don't fit).
Working in Bedford, with it's sizeable Italian community, you quite often see an old Cinq with an old couple behind the wheel; her filling the car and looking like someone has just shat on her dinner, him looking like he's expecting the handbag to get swiped over his head at any moment. A stereotype, but typical!
