fairyland!

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/116761

I know it's stating the obvious, but this bloke is now a liability.

Who the fuck does he see as the next followers of the sport? I suppose it doesn't matter to him as he'll be dead (or a head in a jar a la Futurama) but to come out with this is just insane.

I got into F1 as a boy; Scalextric and the early coverage on the BBC played a huge part in my interest and it's quite important to note that I follow no other form of 4 wheeled motorsport to the extent I follow F1 as a result of having been captivated as a youngster.

I'm sure the likes of Mercedes and Renault are aghast that a sport they plough huge amounts of cash into is not for the youngsters that they hope will aspire to buy their products when they grow up (Honda probably don't care as they have been aiming at the older generation for decades ) and I'm sure that Red Bull is only consumed by mature men with six figure salaries.

I can't swear enough at this story. Suffice to say it compares with a Gerald Ratner statement. "See this F1 on the TV. It's just shit, kids. You don't want to watch that; it for old twats that are wearing colostomy bags and taking pills to get erect to ejaculate into women they are paying for."

""This poor guy in South Africa [Oscar Pistorius], for instance, has got more interest because of what happened with him than when he was winning gold medals. He won medals and afterwards nobody thought about him."

The reason he is the news is because he is Oscar Pistorius the world's most famous disabled athlete and probably in the top 5 of all recognisable athletes. It wouldn't be news if had been Martyn Rooney.

Tool.

GB 400m runner, and yes exactly the point!

What a tool. How out of touch can an octogenarian be?! The sooner Christian Horner replaces him the better.
PG

I'm not even in marketing and I know that you need to create aspiration in youngsters, so that they want "brand x" and then go out and buy it when they can afford it.

The man's a total tool.

What? The man who wants to revert to N/A V8's because he's a bad loser?
Come off it

+1.

He clearly has no idea how the world works today.
Martin

What a load of bollocks, he's got to go.

He is so completely out of touch that he has to go. The 15yr old might not be able to afford a Rolex but when he's 25 or 30 he might well be in a position to buy one and if he gets the message early enough it might become something he aspires to. As for F1, it will die if it doesn't have a young audience taking an interest each year.
Nice Guy Eddie

All part of the Bernie agenda to get F1 back from CVC for a knock down price. Has he ever given a shit about the fans?

and again..

How would double points for last 3 races be any less stupid than just for the last race?

That's to let Ferrari take all season long to get a competitive car and then steal the Championship at the last gasp. Other technical changes to be introduced mid season to make sure it happens!
DetmoldDick

He's a complete tool. End of.
