F1 Game - TurkeyTime to post your guesses for the next race, keeping in mind who's won here for the last three years, perhaps? Usual stuff - pole, fastest lap, top eight finishers, and bonus question: which nationality will have the most drivers in the points?
Deadline: Friday 5 June 2359 GMT

Turkey is a circuit that Ferrari tend to do well, and if they can improve on their Monaco form, they will definitely be up there. But Button seems rather unstoppable though.
Perhaps to help out with the bonus question, there are currently the following nationalities in F1 this season:
5 Germans
3 Brazilians
2 Finns
2 Brits
2 Italians
1 Pole
1 Spanish
1 French
1 Swiss
1 Australian
1 Japanese
P.S. What if there's a tie? Say, two Brits and two Brazilians finish in the points.

Rodge

Go with the highest placed nationality in that case. 2 Brits (in the points), one wins/2 Germans, one is second, give the point to the Brits.

Then either British or Brazilian will count as a correct guess.

My g/f has a Brazilian but I can't guess what a "British" is. Utterly unkempt pubic hair, exploding out of the bikini line whilst sitting with legs open?

As before, your bonus guess and top eight guess don't have to be consistent.

Ah, Turkey. The Bosphorus, stray dogs and the world's only quadruple apex 160mph left-hander. Best of the new circuits IMO, with some good overtaking opportunities.
This, I think, is going to be a proper bunfight and could well be the first time we see the Brawn Supremacy threatened. Ferrari have made a huge leap forward and have a great record here, while Red Bull's new aero bits should be more effective than they were in Monaco. Toyota are on the warpath after a disastrous Monaco and should bounce right back.
And please, please let's not have any more animals running around on the track. That was shit-the-bed scary last year.

He didn't, did he? I saw him get a bit loose, but I didn't think he went off. He was just slow.

Vettel drove a fantastic race. One wonders if he had a different strategy, he could have potentially overtaken Button for the win.

One also wonders if he'd have stayed on the track on the first lap, would he have hung on for the win...?
(In either case, the answer's probably 'no'.)

I accidentally put two fourth places, would it be possible to ignore the second 4th place of Rosberg?

I missed the start, so I didn't see the incident.
What happened to Barrichello too?
|
Gooner
|
He lunched his gearbox after the clutch didn't engage at the start. This caused the anti-stall to kick in and too much torque sent through first gear - like the Focus RS, torque from an F1 cars engine is restricted in first gear to protect the transmissions. He subsequently lost 7th gear and was retired whilst the gearbox was still repairable and before the damaged gear took out the rest of the box. He had no chance of a points finish at the time so it wasn't worth risking a gearbox as they only get to use 8 throughout the season - he'll probably get a new one for Silverstone with today's box bought back later in the season.

Button did an excellent job...nay, the whole team did an excellent job; his driving style is very, very calm and commanding.
As for Hamilton, no wonder he's going backwards as the car looks like a cocaine-powered barge rolling on marbles - just awful.

Did any one hear Barrichello hinting that it was odd that things break or only go against him and not Button, sour grapes!!

Wonder if smooth driving has anything to do with this?
Less severe loads on steering and suspension components, less stress on engine, clutch and gearbox etc etc
|
DaveGibson

It was the same back in 1967 with the new Lotus 49. Graham Hill's broke and Jim Clark won four races, because he was much easier on the car.

They made the point in commentary that it happened to him at Ferrari too.
I wonder how much of McLarens apparent development problems are being caused by 2 young, inexperienced drivers.

Disappointing race for me - I hoped for more points having correctly predicted pole, the bonus and the fact the Barrichello would not score. On Rubens and sour grapes, it must be bloody difficult feeling that you're doing everything right, only for all the results to go the other guy's way. Button is the better driver, but Ruby's certainly got what it takes to win races. I'm not sure if the clutch issue was something he did or a fault on the car, but was under the impression that it's pretty hard for a driver to damage gearboxes and engines these days.
Mclaren's development woes are caused by a double-barrel of in-season testing ban and the lack of a good test driver.

Unlikely, unless Button has a technical problem.

Yes, development woes........ but the fact is that the basic car is a pile of dog poo and it's hard to develop a crap piece of machinery into a race winner in just one season when there is very little testing permitted
|
DaveGibson

Brawn seem to have got it right with only four days (was it?) of testing.
|
TimR

Ah but they had a whole season of development before that.
Anyway McLaren used to be pretty good at unveiling their car a week before the season and winning the first race.
