F1 Game - Monaco

Could this be the race where Mercedes' car advantage is less marked? Or will Hamilton make it five in a row? Guess the top ten finishers, pole taker and fastest lapper, and answer the bonus question: how many classified finishers will complete as many laps as the winner?

Deadline: Friday 23 May 2359 GMT
Sav

For me this is the best racing weekend of the year; Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500 and the Coke 600 at Charlotte.

I think Indianapolis will be the most interesting race. Montoya and Jacques Villeneuve are back in the Indy 500, a successful NASCAR driver is doing the double – Indy and Charlotte on the same day – it will be a race that can’t be missed.

I think JPM has been missing a little on the road courses in IndyCar, his lack of experience is evident, but he was straight on the pace in Indy 500 practice.

For many years I have viewed Monaco as an absolute farce of a Grand Prix... narrow track, hardly any opportunities to pass. Just a plaything for the super-rich.   If you get it wrong in qualifying you are absolutely stuffed for the race

This is because many people view F1 as a race every other Sunday. The racing has nothing to do with it other than be a window for the media world to look in on the life of the F1 world; F1 is a world in own right.
Twelfth Monkey

I can understand Chris's views, but I think I've also come to see it as one of the ultimate challenges to an F1 driver.
PhilD

There’s what, 20 races on the calendar? Something for everyone! Personally I love Monaco and really need to get myself there one day.
BeN

You could say the same for Singapore too. Nobody really cares about the 'race'. It's a damn cynical tourism marketing exercise.

Disagree, Singapore has turned into a fans' favourite.

Personally I love Monaco. It was the the first Grand Prix I ever watched as a child, is one of only two I've attended and, procession or not, is a fantastic spectacle.

Beneath the glitter it's one of the biggest challenges the drivers face all year. I will probably buy a couple of Now TV day passes to watch it live.

Hawksworth was great at the Indianapolis road course race earlier this month; he was comfortably leading it before cautions jumbled up the field.

For someone who almost abandoned his motor racing career before Bryan Herta gave him a lifeline, and considering his lack of experience in an IndyCar, he has been impressive so far.

Stewart usually doesn't start winning until the Summer months, and his record in the 600 isn't great in recent years. I pick the 5 of Kahne for the 600. Stewart is one of my favourite drivers, but it would be surprising if he won on Sunday.

GP2 was a chaotic affair earlier today. The track got blocked at the Lowe's hairpin, various other incidents and another incident where the Tech Pro barrier at Tabac got dislodged. It might be a softer hit for the driver, but it doesn't hold up very well in that turn.

Jolyon Palmer drove beautifully; he made a lovely pass at Devote to regain the lead and he drove around the various incidents to take the win.

I haven't looked at the rules for ages so no idea how points are awarded!
It's just a bit of fun for me

Me too..

..or it shows my lack of knowledge.
Dr. Hfuhruhurr

The rules are as follows

Top ten finishers - three points for each correct one, one point if you're one place out (including predicting tenth for a driver who finishes eleventh)

Pole and fastest lap - one point for correct driver in each case

Bonus - one point for correct answer, or for closest guess in case of lap speeds, race times, etc.

So the maximum possible score for a single race is 33 points
