F1 and moneyLooks like the budget is going to be set at $40 million next year.
Since the reason is apparently based on the current economic climate that seems a reasonable direction to take.
Just 2 questions though.
1) Since we're all suffering from the economic downturn how much are they going to reduce ticket prices by?
2) How much will race promoters now have to pay Bernie to be allowed to stage the race?
In addition I've been wondering how Donington can possibly ever make a profit given that Silverstone doesn't.
With an initial outlay of £100 million and a race contract for 10 years (I think) they need an annual profit of £10 million just to cover the capital sum, let alone paying interest or actually turning a profit.
I think I've read that Silverstone actually lose something like £3 to £4 million on the annual GP.

How will they police this? I might be looking at it a bit simplistically but...
If a steering wheel supplier is currently paid by Ferrari £100,000 for an F1 wheel and £10 for a road car wheel, won't Ferrari say next season we will pay you £10 for an F1 wheel, but we will pay you £100,000 for a road one?
Surely it will be impossible to police?

These were my thoughts Giant, particulary for teams owned or with strong connections with car manufacturers, not just in terms of how they pay suppliers but also in terms of testing and building components. And the last thing F1 needs is more off track controversy!

Think of the huge job losses this will bring. The Uk economy doesn't need a 1000 odd F1 personnel all looking for non existant jobs in motorsport. Bad idea.

It'll be impossible to police and therefore will cause stupid arguments and accusations which will all end in court.

From which Ferrari will emerge, smiling, as world champions because they refused to sign up for it in the first place and continued spending $500 million (or whatever it is) a year.
So a satisfactory result for the FIA then.
