DS 7 Crossback

I really like that, the colour looks shit (literally and figuratively) in the photo but on the Autocar website it looks good. It's certainly more interesting than a Q5.
PG

Well that actually looks really good. A few interesting design touches, not too fussy, and an interior that looks inviting (and with a normal wheel / dials arrangement). Although I expect that is the top price model on display on both external and internal views.

Price wise if it is as big as a Q5, but priced like a Q3, then that will attract people. But I'll believe the quoted prices when I see them. The lack of AWD will put some people off.
Twelfth Monkey

Just what the world needs - another mid-sized 4x4...
Michael

The distorted reflection in the background could be the Q5 they modeled this on. It does just look like a Q5 with cheap details to me, it's a mess.
simonp

It's not a Q5 rival without AWD. I'd never buy a car that looked like this without it. And that ridiculously large screen stuck on the dash looks like an afterthought, rather than a coherent piece of design. Tesla have a lot to answer for in starting off this trend.

Depends on how high the kerbs are on the school run surely?
Bob Sacamano

Sobering thought:

Quote:
Weíre told that PSA engineers are fully aware of what Tarmac in the UK can be like, apparently having been moderately appalled after a group of them was brought over to encounter our potholes, and DS is determined to reclaim the reputation for ride quality that French cars used to enjoy.
BeN

That looks...not bad actually.
Giant

I'm disappointed, it just looks like a fussy, sparkly Q5. I thought DS were going to major on avantgarde styling. That said, I really like the DS5, which has sold in single figures so I'm obviously no barometer on what joe public want. I can't see the lack of four wheel drive being much of a problem, it's a high seating position and projecting a good image that people care about, the latter being somewhat more of a problem I suspect.

I'm a bit confused as well. So CitroŽn is the funky arm and DS is for luxury.

Even so, despite some lovely details and great interior this is the most boring CitroŽn for a while.

£30-£40k, FWD, and then 1.2, 1.5, 1.6 engines . HA!.

Me and cars are going to fall out if they carry on like this.
gooner

I'm not sure it's different enough and that large screen in the dash just looks ridiculous.

+1, at least they're still making some interesting stuff but unfortunately interesting stuff doesn't depreciate to like it used too.
Blarno

So it looks like a 4x4 but isn't actually 4wd?

That makes perfect sense.

Which it actually does as most people neither use nor need AWD.

Exactly, they just want the look so there's no point in dragging an AWD system around.  I couldn't buy a 2WD SUV.   If I bought and SUV, I'd want it to be able to perform like one should even it wasn't used all that often.

This, and the trend for everything to get taller is one of the reasons I'm sticking with the Scirocco for the foreseeable.

Having said that I think this DS is one of the better looking of the breed - in a nice car for someone else kind of way.
Big Blue

Looks lovely outside but what the fuck is that screen about? Looks like one of those cheap flip-out DIN things you get on eBay from China, except this will only be available when you just mass-tick the options list at great cost.

Where I live the 2WD 4x4-look is ideal as there is absolutely no need for 4WD and the roads are shite.
Tim

The big screen is an obvious next step isn't it?

Tesla have started the size trend and Merc in particular have made a point of NOT integrating it in the dashboard, this is just an amalgamation of those 2 ideas.

Got to be -  simpler, cheaper and future proof.

I really struggle to see the issue that people have with smaller engines whic produce figures that are comparable with larger engines of old, technology moves on.

A 600cc sportsbike is about as quick as a litre bike, quicker in and out of turns and easier to throw about. However to get it to do that you have to wring its neck mercilessly and the slightest error takes about half a mile to recover. It's tiresome even though it's just as quick.

That's why.

Because in the real world they fail to meet the performance and fuel consumption claims made.

Perhaps it should be renamed
DS7 Cashback ???

Nail, meet hammer.

I like the design of that. I still think DS should just be Citroen, marketed to buggery and then rake in the pennies.

It's so the old bastards who buy the majority of Citroens can see the controls....
Bob Sacamano

The DS brand could be very successful but Citroen have to commit long term to being consistent in their pricing and marketing and to the point of separate showrooms - like MINI. Audi, and Lexus.

The Q5 has great proportions (well the old one did not sure I've seen a new one). With a decent petrol engine I'd be very happy with one.
Stuntman

^^^ I agree.  The Q5 looks very nice, the Q3 quite nice, and the Q7 and Q2 much less so to my eyes.

Nah, there will be a few who agree on here I bet.
cbeaks1

The Q5 is ok but the Q3 is a dumpy shitbox.

Did DS or Audi do the weird silver prongy sidebits on the grill first?

The RS one is supposed to be a good drive but the proportions are just awful.
