DS 60th, Hopwood Hall, Bucks

A dead cert for me to be here today, Citroen Car Club D Sections UK 60th anniversary and it's only 25 miles away. I could wax lyrical but needless to say the smile is still on my face and I couldn't look anywhere without being like a kid in a sweet shop, everything was there from faithful money-no-object restorations to untidy cars ran on a budget - owners are happy to confirm they are simple to work on so DIY is an option but having a specialist less than half an hour away helps.

On the way over Mrs FB asked what we had in savings and let me know that if the right car is there, I have permission. It's now a case of finding the right car...

Finally, this DS20 semi automatic is A Vendre for 12k; it's not a minter or my preferred model (close enough though...) or colour but the current owner is known on the DS scene and he was honest about the work required and what he had done. Almost the sweet spot for me...

Wait to get as close to the exact model you want.  Don't compromise otherwise you will regret it.  Something like the colour not being to taste would drive me mad every time I looked at the car.

I think you are right, I'm looking for an early 70's DSuper or DSuper5 in silver, grey or blue (any shade of these) or black with power steering as for the last 18 months this was an option on te DSuper models but most have it fitted. A DSpecial would be good too but again needs optional PAS which you do see fitted; more basic is what I'm looking for, simpler to maintain and you still get that unique DS feeling.

I can only imagine how happy you were all day!

I hope you find the right car at the right price.

There can't be too many GSA's left on the UK's roads (seeing that blue one above)

I'd wait for the right car, too. It's going to be a keeper so you might as well get the most perfect for you that you can find.

The new hot hatches have their whiff of chavinness exaggerated in such company!

You can adit it Chris, you were walking around with a semi on all day, weren't you?

Indeed! The C6 fits right in though.

Not far off! To be fair, that's is a DS3 racing which is specifically to celebrate the success of the DS3 and Loeb at the time, and the one next to it is mine - certainly not a hot hatch!

The C6 is covered by many as the last big Hydropneumatic Citroen to be produced, they have a strong following and no doubt will will start to appreciate in the future especially the ultra rare 3.0HDi - there was a 60-plate C5 estate with the 3.0HDi for sale at 10,500 which is also a tempting vehicle with huge appeal, incredibly rare too.

Chatting to one DS owner he keeps his car outside and covers it in the winter, the car gets used even then but only if there's no salt on the roads. He too had discovered it won't fit in his garage!
