Cultural differences

...can be the only explanation for this:

Do "Middle Eastern customers" think that cars with black leather and carbonfibre/aluminium inlays are as awful and tasteless as most of us presumably find this Rolls?
Mark

In my experience, Arabs have truly shocking taste when it comes to how things should look. The same goes for how they perceive quality and service.
Giant

I always think of modern Arabian tastes as a bit 'new money'.

To me RR now only produce tasteless and hideous German caricatures. If I simply had to have something like this I'd go for Bentley Flying Spur.

Saw one of those today - it was lovely.

I am going to have to disgaree with you there, Alan.  In fact I would say the opposite is the truth.  IMO the current Phantom, especailly the FHC and DHC, bears comparison with the heady days of the Phantom II and Phantom III of the 1930s.  The Bentley Continental works best in 2-door form (FHC or DHC) and is rather too much like a slab sided, top of the range VW Phaeton in 4-door form.  The best Bentley Flying Spurs were built in the early 1960s.

Back to the OP, while I dislike the Arabian abomination above, I would equally dislike a Phantom in a boring German silver and black combination.
PG

More proof that money and taste are not easy bedfellows.

I couldn't disagree more with you Alan, to me the hideous German charactures are made by by Bentley, now the Arnage is gone the whole range is exactly as you describe. To me the Phantom range (not the new small RR) is exactly what the company should be making today. 15 years ago I would have said Rollers were brash, Bentleys impossibly classy, now the complete opposite is true.

This might all change if all the footballers, scrap dealers etc trade their Continentals in for RR Ghosts though![/i]

Really? Good God. I think RR's look awful.
