Consistency Trial

I did one of these last month and just came to mind as the pictures from this month's trial up the Captain's Drive at the RAC Country Club were posted.

I was 7th out of 29, my first 2 runs within 0.1s of each other but let down by the third run being a second and a bit too fast. The winner had an AVERAGE time difference of 0.1s. Not bad fun and good to catch up with some members I only ever see at motoring event dinners as opposed to outside breathing fresh air and laughing at golfers.

How does this work then?

You run a course and the first run is the benchmark. You then have to try to match that benchmark over some more runs. It's about feeling the time as opposed to outright lunacy, although a couple used it as an excuse for outright lunacy (there was a McLaren road car and a Caterham there the day I did it who just smoked it on every run).

No Timing equipment; no passengers; I avoided using cruise control (); just the driver matching speeds through a set of corners then up a hill.

and presumably some fancy timing equipment rather than some bloke and a stopwatch? An average of 0.1 is very impressive.
Big Blue

Yes, fancy timing equipment.
