Congratulations?

Mrs P got a mysterious letter from our local Vauxhall dealer congratulating her for something unspecified and telling her to ring a number and quote the given reference. It turns out she has won the opportunity to go in there and buy a new car. Whoop de fucking doo!

We're gonna go anyway, just in case we can score anything good for a bargain, but I doubt that'll happen...
PhilD

It worked then!

It was just the way they made out she'd won a free service or something good. Anyways, it's at the weekend and we're both off, so why not go along? I hate the black Mokka, so if she changes it for another one in a different colour I'll be very pleased! Typically for a woman, she likes the gold coloured Mokka X, despite disliking my Titan Gold Astra Coupe back in the day.

I bet those insensitive marketing bastards had know idea they'd be messing with people's emotions in this way.

Very pleased about her buying another Mokka?

Isn't this an great opportunity to get her to think about something else?  I had the misfortune of getting one as a hire car for a couple of days, the only thing interesting about it was the heated steering wheel.....
simonp

Look, she likes it, but I hate the way black shows up every tiny mark that I get to see when she makes me clean it.

Plus, we're not really going to get much opportunity to consider something else whilst in a Vauxhall showroom are we now?! I think the best we can hope for is a gold (?) Mokka X of a similarly high spec for no more money than the current monthly repayments. Anything other than that and I'll make sure we walk! They gave us £500 cash for buying the first one and I think there may be a similar deal this time....
Michael

Do you have to get a Vauxhall ?
Martin

There may not be much else to consider at the Vauxhall dealer, but my thinking was to take the idea of a new car, but visit another dealer and look for an alternative.  You never know, she might like something else.  It shouldn't be too difficult to find something nicer than a Gold Mokka.....

Edit: Wouldnt be difficult at all!

Especially as she'd be swapping a xenon equipped one for one with LED headlights.
Martin

Depends on whether the Mokka has 25w or 35w Xenons.  Basic LEDs, as you had on the Leon and which are fitted as std on most A4s / 3 series etc won't be as bright as a full fat Xenons, but probably better than the 35w units.

Just use that as another reason to look at something else!  I would never dictate, as I wouldn't want (or allow) that to happen to me, but nothing wrong with offering options.
Roadsterstu

I am thinking about changing the xenon bulbs in the V60. It could well be on it's originals (although being on all the time they could have been replaced). One side has a slight pinkish tinge on start up. Looked at some Philips mega things but feck me they are expensive.
simonp

It's all off now. We just went to pick up our new sink from the kitchen shop and she wants a new larder thing instead now!
Martin

Result!
simonp

Bloke in there reckons it might be around 3 grand. For a cupboard!
Giant

I'd rather a Mokka than spend £3k on a cupboard!!
JohnC

Think I'd be trying a different cupboard shop! £3k - they know how to take the piss don't they?
simonp

It's pretty big and I'm not paying for it, so that's two pluses on its side!

Bugger that! I'd be buying some wood and knocking it up myself before handing over 3 bags for a larder!

I used to do the audit of a kitchen manufacturer many moons ago. I can't remember the exact figures but the basic materials for a kitchen unit (foil wrapped chip board) were about 5% of the final sales price. Add some handles and some feet and you might hit 10% on a bad day: that's why 50% off sales are quite popular in kitchen shops.

Let me know how it turns out.
