Comedy Merc pricing

Two gems from Charlie Ironside

http://www.charlesironside.co.uk/

Now I like a nice W123 as much as any man, but the money they want for that 240d is mental. A few years ago, the only W123s that broke the 10k barrier were mint six cylinder cars in a nice metallic with leather and airon.

12995 for a white car in cloth is bad enough, but this is a 240d, and if you don't know what a 240d is - then I shall summarise thusly :

71 bhp + 101 lbs ft + 4 speed auto + 1500 kgs = a fuck ton of slowness and misery.

The SL73 AMG is interesting, but I can't work out whether it is spectacular value (very rare, interesting history), or an overpriced curio at best.
PR

Overpriced curio would be my take. That hood looks like it was picked up in the Milletts sale.

In any case I'm having difficulty taking his awful website seriously.
Blarno

71 bhp?

I bet the economy is nothing to write home about either.
TreVoR

I suspect the white 123 is an ex-wedding car.

Relates more to the low tax on diesel fuel rather than outright economy compared to the 200 or 230 of the same mint.

I love it, but the green W124 E320T gets my vote!

Ironside talking out of his backside.

240D had 64bhp pre 1979, 71bhp post 1979. The 200D had 54bhp pre 1979, 59bhp post...

He's not talking out of his 'arse' but quoting facts
Racing Teatray

The SL73 was originally on at 70k. Been there for ages and price has dropped quite substantially!

"Backside "was in reference to "comedy pricing"
