A Morris Minor - just opened the garage door.
If I had the keys to my neighbour's garage I could also see a MkII RS2000, and until recently I could see a MkI Golf GTi across the road.

The Golf GTI wouldn't have been out when Sam Tyler went back...
Yesterday - a pale metallic green BMW M635 CSi. Very nice.

A Renault Avantime, outside my door. On my ride to work I regularly see a barely-held-together Citroen DS and a Rover SD1 being devoured by shrubbery.

Pardon my ignorance, I've never watched it...
Didn't the Golf GTI come out in '74 though?
|
DaveGibson

Matt, the original Golf appeared in 1974 but the GTi didn't come out until it was shown at the Frankfurt show in late 1975. It didn't reach the UK until 1979 though.

Immaculate 'B' plate Granada 2.8i Ghia X - good thing it has a wide bootlid to fit all that badging in!
Also a not too scruffy Mercury Grey XR2 on a 'C' plate on steel wheels which still had their original trims.

A few moments ago someone had the decency to pull up right infront of my office in a pristine Bentley S3. After a few moments he burbled off. I then gave my office staff chapter and verse on why we need to sell more houses so that I can go out and buy a similar Bentley for myself.

Mark 2 Ford Cortina, in the dreaded Silver Fox, trundling along the M27 this morning........
Also one of those funny Scimitar sports cars from the 1980s.

Volvo P1800 in light blue, progressing west along the M4 this morning.

I saw something yesterday, and have no idea what it was. It had no visable badges on the back, the the badge in the grill was too small to see.
And we all know how good I am at describing things but here is goes!
It had a similar front end to an MGB, but not quite as sculptered, i.e. the front wings were quite as prounced. Chrome grill, quite bluff, chromed bumpers I think. It was about the length of the Focus, maybe a tad shorter. The back was more like a Jag E-type FHC. That was the weird bit. It was 2 door, seats set towards the rear more than the front. The back was fairly flat horizintally, i.e. no curved rear. I can't remember the age, but it was post 1960's I think vaguely. Headlights were sat in the end of the wings.
I have no idea what it is, does anyone else have a vague idea what it could be from what I am wittering on about?
|

Nope.
That white DS again.
In pics, I always thought the DS looked a bit ugly, but in real life it's amazing.

Been in France for the past few days, so several different sightings.
Today it was a slightly tatty Peugeot 604 parked up in a car park near to where my colleague had left his (rented) 207.... guess which car I preferred?
Yesterday, an immaculate Peugeot 304 Berline on one side of the street and a 403 Pickup on the other.
On Sun, at the "auto brocante", along with the museum cars, there was a Matra Murena and a particularly immaculate Simca Ariane, which had a gloriously rumbling V8 engine.....

Tatty, white DS that I've seen a few times now. Even in that condition, it knocks spots off the E Type from yesterday.

Chinese registered? No, it's from here!

Oh is it. When the folks drove through China last year I'm sure they had to stick Chinese reg plates on their car that were the same as in the picture. Shows what I know

'Tis not. Red and yellow plates denotes classic car status here. It's the same on the Morris Minor.

That'll be an Opel Rekord - typically granada size, at one point shared the body of the Vauxhall Carlton. That said modern Vectra's/Mondeos are about that size nowadays

I don't normally go to the supermarket on a Sunday (although not a religious person, I'm of an age where it still seems wrong) but on the way there this morning a Peerless passed in the opposite direction. Not that surprising since I know the owner, who lives a couple of miles from me but on my return, what I think was an Allard, went the other way.

I didn't get any choice today!
Though on the way there and back I saw a few future classics:
Ford Sierra XR4i
Ford Focus RS - excellent condition
Lancia Delta Integrale - it was a J-reg, one of the last I think, incredibly wide but looked standard.
Mini Minor - must of been an early 60's or even late 50's - incredible condition, it was mint.

Colin

In the mystery place (see thread on "General"), lots of classics out to enjoy the sunshine.
Best was a Lancia Aurelia Coupe............. such an elegant car.
Was overtaken by a couple of early 1970s Posrche 911Ts and a glorious silver Jag E Type Series 3.
Also saw an Alfa SZ, an original Fiat 500 (I did manage to take a picture of that one), an immaculate Peugeot 404 Estate, a couple of Alfa 164s, a Fiat Coupe Turbo and Mercedes 280SE 3.5 (the late 1960s model, W114/5?)

Dropped the car into my usual specialists yesterday and they had a Facel Vega in the workshop.
A Flavia in the weeds round the back slowly returning to nature. It's also a bit of a Grale graveyard with 3 or 4 being broken. Depressing. :-(

Earlier on I saw a mint - mint - Citroen DS in silver. In amongst normal town traffic, it looked serene and magnificent.
I felt a bit sorry for it, though, as its owner was driving it, probably unknowingly, towards the sort of downpour in which you start to wonder if you should be building an ark (I'd just been through it).

A red 8-series with a ruined front-end on the back of a tow truck. I let out an audible "oooh what a waste"

An original 928S, got to be one of the originals. It was in gold with the Porsche telephone dial style wheels.

Oh, and yesterday, several vintage and classic Royce, on their way home form the RREC national rally weekend. Unfortunately I missed the show due to other commitments.

Someone was parking a Bristol 406 in Woodstock High street today; a good, original unrestored example. He said that he doesn't do much with it other than drive it, to which I replied that it was good to see it being used for its intended purpose.

I saw a Jaguar XK120 being given a good thrashing near goodwood house. Looked lovely and he was obviously enjoying himself.

I have just found out why there are so many Bentleys around here at the moment. The Bentley Drivers' Club are holding their annual Concours at Rousham House tomorrow. I might just have to go along for look.
