Cheap, basic PAYG phone.

Any suggestions, it's for the old boy.  He wants something to carry around, basically for emergencies and the odd call.  Ease of use is paramount, and I'd suggest PAYG where your credit doesn't expire after a set period - I know that would piss him off.

Thanks!

Something from the Doro range I would suggest:

Yes; nice large, easy to read buttons, and I think most of them these days have text capability too (they didn't used to even a few years ago, when I was looking for one for my mother).

Not sure about the PAYG thing; perhaps a very cheap SIM-only deal would be better? That way it would always be available without having to worry about it.

We got my dad one of the flip out Doro ones because it had big buttons.
I think he managed to use it ok until he lost it (in the house!)

Thank you, will look into.  Turns out he's found an old, unused one in a box in the loft conversion.  Be interesting to see if it works...

They probably will have reassigned the number by now?

I'm hoping that the SIM from his old, broken one will work with it - the phone is, I believe, the same type.

My mum has a Doro - so simple she can actually use it!

So long as he doesn't need smart-phone functions, I agree.
Argos have some on clearance at the moment (looking for cheap phones after elder daughter's was stolen from her place of work yesterday.....)
