Castle Combe - mostly Fords

Here's a few pics from the RS day at Combe a couple of weekends ago

Matt

Love this one.

Pic 2 is fantastic; formation drifting.
Blarno

I'll take the Forest Arch'd Mk2, please.

It is indeed a V8 - from what I understand it's a 4.6 litre V8 ( Rover ) with about 260-280bhp and the car weighs about 900kg. Allied tro very good circuit knowledge and the fact  he can drive very well means he is as quick as anyone on a track day. I don't think I've ever been to Combe and NOT seen him circulating

Think he's lost his caravan elsewhere on the track?

Sadly, it broke down shortly after his drifting antics - think something in the autobox went/overheated

I have been to a Rally Day at Castle Coombe (2007?), and he was there then...

It sounds great, and agree about him being handy behind the wheel...

Spoke to him once or twice and he said his favourite days are usually the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo trackdays......they are quite amazed when he's lapping with their faster cars   .
I've followed him and that car is VERY well sorted as well as the driver

That MG is lovely, must be a fearsome weapon especially with a handy driver.

Maybe this guy is towing it home for him?

Morris, the 911-killing MG mentioned on page 86 of this month's EVO mag

...and a few more

I see Blarno's got his new car already.

That's the reason I've not risked dragging or tracking the 328, the chances of shagging the Autobox are just too high. Pity as it would be fun to have a go. Perhaps another weekend toy is needed...

That is lovely...

Got to laugh at the contradiction of the Labatts car ...
canadian bacon

this looks like an MGC, in that the bonnet has the bulge of a C , though it may be a V8 with a C bonnet, the bodywork apes the Sebring MG's, basically its a bit of a mixed bag.
gonnabuildabuggy

I like too. There's a V8 that goes to Santa Pod that looks similar.

- not much love for the Fords on here!

The YB engined wide-arch Mk2 is the best. Monster machine.

I was surprised no-one commented on the GT40 or RS200 tbh although I appreciate that not many like Capris or Sierras

The RS200 was never as "exciting sounding" as a 6R4 for me, and a GT40 is way out of my league...

I have simple tastes I guess, and for the record I do like Sierras!

Love the Capri's esp the RS in the last pic. The 3 door Sierra Cossie just never looked right to me, the 4 dr was far better as you might agree

My love of Escort MK2's is well documented.

Oh how cute those stripes are - if only they were used to decent effect these days.

^^^ Kinell! How did I miss the RS1800? Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a clear winner!
"him"

RS1800's should look like this...

That was taken in 2006 at Castle Coombe...

My first RS2000 Mk2 was red one with the reg BDA 8T - sadly written off by a BMW 323i hitting me head on

This is an old friend's RS1800 at a rainy Pod

Sounded lovely but no faster than the RS2000s as standard

That Labatts Ice car is notorious.  Its caught fire on more than one occasiona dn been rebuilt.  It was at ford fair on sunday and was smoking a bit.

Absolutely!! My first serious dream car, that is!!

No, but it's the looks that made it the ultimate 'sleeper' for the time, IMO. The RS2000 was just a wee bit too........ OTT, for want of a better phrase.
