CAR mag September

There appear to be some moonboots in evidence on the letters page.

I'm guessing the guy moaning about the DB5 being worse than an E Type was either recently in the position of looking at both before discovering that the Aston showed his budget to be a zero short, or that 25 years ago he could've bought the Aston but chose an E Type and now sees his potential bank balance to be a similar zero short.

Also I don't understand how the letter of the month is awarded. The criticism of the Alfa Giulia compared to the German alternatives and the comment about the Italians needing to focus on reliability seems somewhat out of date, I think all cars are similar nowadays unless they're pushing new tech (which surely applies to the German option?).
It certainly really doesn't seem worthy of singling out.

In the old vs new comparison the AMG A45 is described as the 'mature' hot hatch and I'm sure the Focus RS is mentioned but as far as I can see the only thing mature about the Merc is the badge, if you parked a grey Focus RS next to a grey A45 I think they'd be equally 'shouty' at rest?

Egad!  Never!

(I can't comment as I haven't read CAR in donkeys.)

I find it hard to read sometimes.

In my opinion they also print too many letters that are from people telling them how great CAR magazine is.

That'll be what I call Radio Times syndrome.  Evo suffers a little, too...

I bought a copy at the airport a few weeks back to see what it was like, as I've not bought one for years. It was Ok in parts, but the main writing style means I won't bother again.
Nice Guy Eddie

He has a point though. The db5 drives like a truck and if it wasn't for James Bond they'd never be worth 750k. Yes they're pretty but not as pretty as s mk1 E

Is this the most recent copy with the articles on Tesla? Thoroughly enjoyed it, myself.

That's right.

Somewhat worryingly it made me want a Tesla, not even a superfast one

I buy it most months, find it ok to read in general but occasionally get irritated by some of the flippancy.

Also, like EVO, they have far too many Porsche based articles - this month a 4 cylinder Cayman tested by a bunch of Porsche people and some marketing type who has a 4 pot TT, what do you think they all think of it
Martin

It was the August edition that I bought.
