BMW 135i MSport Coupe

So finally today I got to try a 135i at Sytner High Wycombe. And I was really pleased by it.

The one I tried was an 08-reg car with 3k on the clock. Went like the bejesus, even though it was wet and therefore I was being somewhat circumspect. It also sounded superb when extended - I was worried that it might sound a bit flat from the reports I'd read but no, it sounds great. Feels a weighty solid piece of kit and all the controls have a nice positive feel. The footrest is a little awkwardly positioned - kept snagging my foot on it to start with. Gearchange is lovely and the brakes have lots of bit. Didn't really get much chance to test the handling but if it handles like the 130i I drove, we'll get along famously. The ride also seemed pretty good albeit certainly stiff.

A big advantage of going to that dealer is that it's huge so had lots of stock - got to see a 1-series in Monaco Blue and satisfied myself that I do like the colour on the car. The one I drove was Le Mans Blue which was also lovely but I've decided I like the darker shade. The test car had a beige interior with aluminium trim which was simply hideous. But they had two 1-series convertibles, of which one had the brown wood trim and the other the black wood trim. I'm certain that in picking the black wood trim, I've got the best option. The bobbly aluminium is nasty and so is the brown wood.

Will post some more thoughts later but for now I'm just pleased to say that I feel delighted with my choice and now can't wait to get it!

Excellent - there's always the fear when you haven't driven a car that you won't like it as much as you expect. Can't wait to see the finished article ...

I test drove a couple of cars their a year or so back. It is a big dealership with a lot of good stock (usually).

I need an estate and the 3.5 engine is tempting in a touring shell - sounds like the coupe is going to suit you well

Well, 3.0 twin turbo of course!

Glad you liked the car, Jonny. I'm rather envious and look forward to your thoughts upon delivery of your own.

Excellent Racing - how long do you have to wait for delivery of yours?

Beginning of March. I'm off on holiday to Brazil, Chile and Argentina tomorrow, returning on 3 March. Car should be waiting when I get back.

That's gonna be one hell of a holiday, keep in touch.

If you want me to pick it up and check it's OK, you only have to say the word ...

Glad to hear you liked it. I've been to Sytner HW quite often for a 'browse' as it's close to where I work. It's huge and they always have loads of cars to poke around, particularly beefy Alpinas... :)
Have a great time in SA. I've never been, but well travelled friends that have say it's fantastic.

I'm very envious of your itinerary - what sounds like some great travel then a new car to return to

Glad you had a chance to drive one and see the colour in the flesh, it was sort of essential (he says, having bought the GTA unseen on the basis of a whopping discount and the way my old 2.5 drove   ).

Clunes, a friend has a 335i Touring and it is indeed a superb car. Certainly one I'd consider in the future, personally.

Of course - rather silly of me that - I had written something longer which was correct - but in my haste deleted it all and screwed it up

Well - it will be some time b4 I look for another car yet but it's one to keep in mind although I heard an S6 Avant give it the beans the other day which was great - and would have lots of room....never stop dreaming

Next time I'm in Bedfont, and have some time (?!) you'll have to walk over to hear the S6..... the sound in the underground carpark is nearly as good as in a tunnel.....

And we have it on official authority, cited on these pages, that my S6 sounds orders of magnitude better than the latest M5 Touring that we encounterned kangaroo-ing around the Bristol BMW dealer the other day!

Have a great holiday Racing - I can't think of anything to lift the post holiday blues on your return, more than a new car. Well planned.

No, don't. Forget about everything here and tell us all about it when you get back. Enjoy. You utter, utter bastard.

Cool holiday, just remember that the tall ladies with the silicone breasts, big hands and deep voices on the beach at Rio aren't really ladies at all!

Are you sure ALL of them aren't?
Turbonutter
