That's cheap for what it is but will need a bit of tlc by the looks of it.
Blarno

This cropped up a while back somewhere else. Bit of a weird swap, the AJ engine is only about 40 bhp up on the GSi engine, but these things are getting rare.

Why do I like big Vauxhall saloons so much??

Cavaliers, Vectras, insignias, meh.
Carltons, senators, Viceroys, Omegas, oh yeah!
Blarno

The big stuff like Senators and Omegas were German built and like tanks. Plus, they're decent looking beasts, especially the Omega.

I  kind of like the sheer idiocy of that, even if the better option would have been to leave the 3.0 lump in and then fettle it.

An even better option is this

Indeed. Senators were great cars. And they did indeed feel like tanks.

Bizarre engine swap - it's not even an AJ16, but the earlier AJ6.

I could maybe understand if the AJ16 supercharged unit had been used (326 bhp + 370 lbs ft before upgrade) - but a 4.0 AJ6 is 235 without cats on a good day, isn't that what the standard Vauxhall engine produced ?
Blarno

The GSi 24v engine was about 205 bhp IIRC, so not really much of an upgrade.

A 3000GSi is a thing of beauty, but that is a nasty horror - strip it and scrap the rest.
PhilD

Someone probably had a Jag good only for the scrapper and a GSi with a dodgy engine, did a couple of measurements, and thought "why not?"
