Black ops

Is a bit rubbish.  At least the single player, which is what im after.  The enemy ignore your allies, who can stand out in the open, as soon as you peep your head round the corner, BAM, instant death.  Ive played every COD of the current gen, and completed every Infinity Wards one on Veteran, but this one seems poorly programmed.

I'm not going to buy it, I've heard it's rubbish, my mate completed it in 4 hours.

I went online last night and played Modern Warfare for a little while I hadn't been on for ages, I really enjoyed it.

I tell you whats a good game series, quite overlooked, Army of Two.  I took a chance and bought the first one for 5, it was really good, got the second one too i enjoyed it so much.

I have got so bored of FPS it is unreal.

FYP.

Tim

I've only played Black Ops solo campaign for a short while and wasn't impressed - there doesn't really seem to be a cohesive plot behind the story.

The online isn't great either.
Playing it at a mate's last night it was glitchy as fuck and we kept getting booted out of the various lobbies due to connection problems.

Battlefield is a much better game IMO and also doesn't have a tenth of the irritating pre-teen kids who never shut up playing it.

I have been playing medal of honour online and its pretty good.  Apart from some oddball sending me a private voice message saying something about how i "wasnt as fucking good as him so why was i even fucking trying?"
Tim

I got warned off MEdal of Honour by my bro-in-law as he said it was glitchy and loads of other negative things.

Mind you I should know by now that he complains about most games so it might not be that bad
DradusContact

Nah, its fine.  Better gameplay than COD if you ask me, thought the story is a bit dull.  The COD story is good if a little far fetched.
Tim

Well I might get round to playing it at some point in the future.

How are you getting on with Army of Two?

I didn't like the 2nd one as much as the first.
DradusContact

Moved on from that weeks ago!  Trying to clear some of the big pile of games i have got but not go round to playing.  It was good, the gameplay of the second one was better than two but the story didnt make a great deal of sense and given who got killed off its likely it will be the last in the series which is a pity.

Cant decide to push on with medal of honour and go for level 15 on the multiplayer, got to level 9 but it has really starting slowing down as you need loads of XP per level and im rubbish.
Tim

I'm just enjoying playing Battlefield online at the moment.

I've got the same amount of points as my bro-in-law but played the game for about 20 hours less!!

He's not happy

My son is the same (he is 7), and I too refuse to let him play it (or Modern Warfare),  though like you I let him play Halo.

I also let him play Gears of War (with the "gore" and language turned off), for me there is something less "wrong" with killing aliens/monsters than people...    He also doesn't have a TV in his room, so has to play the Xbox downstairs and supervised... I don't let him play online either...

Some parents either don't know what their kids are playing, or don't care?

My dad bought me a mega drive when i was nine, then a pc in 1995.  since then he has never bought me a game despite them always being on my christmas list when i was young enough to have one.  He doesn't 'get' games and never will.  To him its a waste of money.

My parents were the same, however I do worry that by not "getting games" some parents are not as informed as they should be about what their kids are being exposed to?

It is the same with films though, just because a film is a 'PG' doesn't necessarily make it OK for a child to watch.

I use this (murcan) site for movie "content" monitoring, it is far too draconian sometimes, but it does pick up the smallest detail.

Based on that, and whether I think they should see it at all, I decide if a film is OK for them to watch.

I watched stuff like Alien, Predator and Terminator before i was even 10.  I watched it with my dad though, and he explained things as i went through.  I don't think it has affected me negatively.  Nor has years of computer game violence.  Never really felt the urge to murder anyone.

I make an exception to my chav killing for you....

Fair comment...

In response to your post above though, I do think that explaining things to kids is massively important, if you don't do it then their peers certainly will!

We were watching Top Gear on Sunday, and my son asked "what is a lady garden?"

Black ops was horrifically glitchy online,Eventually I managed to fiddle with my pc settings and by turning a few very high end graphic stuff down on the settings managed to get it running well.
I think it is superb online, very fast gameplay, more like quake and unreal than other call of duties.
Those that like to camp and 'play tactically' tend to moan as it is more of a 'quick eye' game than similar titles.
I flick between black ops and mw2 and mw2 is like playing in slow motion after black ops.
