Berlin

Horrific news coming through. Dr H, hope you are ok if you are in Berlin?

My sister lives there - she tells me she and the rest of my extended family there are ok, but everyone very shocked. Hope same true for the various friends we have there too...
Andy C

Shocking . We was there just over a week ago and it was great.

Berlin is somewhere we've been thinking of going for a while now, and we had contemplated going to the markets this year sometime this week. Selfishly glad we didn't now.

Thoughts to everyone concerned, especially to forummers and families.
Michael

I see from FB that Nick is safe.
Horrific news but no longer shocking.

Berlin is a great place. Terrible thing to happen though.

And on the same day the Russian ambassador to Turkey was shot. Sad state of affairs really.
Scouse

Horrific news, but I feel the murder of Russia's ambassador to Turkey might be the scarier event.

Yes, sadly these events no longer surprise or shock me at all.

Yes, shades of Sarajevo.

And Constantinople would be a somehow apposite place for WW3 to start...
Frank Bullitt

Terrible news and truly sad for all involved although I agree it's disturbing this no longer shocks me. The world seems a smaller place again though and I suspect the CDU are getting twitchy over next years elections

Echo the "not shocked" comments, in fact one of my first thoughts was "not as bad as Nice" as if that makes it in any way better.

Do pass the info on to Interpol Chris.

Not surprised and expect it to get worse as ISIS fighters displaced from Syria and Iraq filer back into Europe and join up with those already here. The stupidity of Merkel's immigration and asylum policy will cost Europe dear.

Luckily the killer left his ID in the truck

Shocking, but as others have said, hardly surprising any more.

Germans have always struck me as very protective of their culture. They support immigration, but I think that people went there as they wanted to be part of that German culture. But that seems not to be the case with the recent influx - too male, too angry, too intolerant.

I think Germany is at the start of what France has seen the past 12 months.
