Bentley copy the Chinese copy of the Rolls Royce?

That's exactly what I thought.

I do like bits of it but not the whole thing. And the front end.....horrid.

I still wish they's done the Java.
PG

What a really confusing design. Bits of it - front grille, rear lights, some of the detailing and certain viewing angles - really remind me of an update for the the Arnage and look good. Other bits and viewing angles - the extra front lights, the huge door mirrors, the overly bling wheels, the overly slabby sides - look terrible.

It almost looks like a slightly bloated Continental from some angles.

And how did everyone feel about the Phantom when it came out?

I didn't like the headlamps and I still find they look odd, plus the whole concept of the "power reserve" gauge strikes me as almost as bad as the Aston ECU rubbish. But I can admire it for being what it is and about 3000% better looking and less chavvy than anything Maybach can offer.

I'd rather have this Mulsanne than a Phantom. to me Bentleys have always been far more appealing than Royces. It must be the inner cad in me.

I liked it and still do.

I don't much care for the design but I do like the name! Mulsanne......good choice. Much better than "Grand Bentley", which sounded impossibly naff.

Ok everyone apart from Mark   My point is 'most' people thought it was hideous but it's now the tasteful choice. I think some on this forum (ok, in life) are a bit quick to judge, and a bit resistent to change and new ideas.

Then again if everyone just said "let's wait and see" it would be a dull forum!
Frank Bullitt

That's one way of making the Continental and Flying Spud look elegant.
Roadrunner

Other than the unusual front end it looks rather unadventurous.  I shall have to wait until I see one for real.
Matt

The Phantom is a coherent design front to back.

This is startled at the front and Maybach at the rear.

Not a fan. This and the XJ are worse to look at than the car they replace, IMO.

Says the man who thinks yellow paint and red leather go together.

I agree.

But then I like red interiors too.
ds240

Looking at it in the magazines, I think it looks quite good.

Modern, but still classy for the big bentley.
Giant

The metallic beige one reminds me of early nineties American barges. Not good!
Nelson

my lord, thats challenging ! I need to be seriously convinced to like that.

just imagine if that had the rear end form the new XJ - the bastard child of Jade Goody and Marty Feldman
PG

I've had a good look at the photos in Autocar and it looks better to me now.

But I'm begining to think that this market for £200k cars has gone a bit crazy. For me, it's like a bottle of wine or a meal out. Above a certain price, it's just willy waving. What does the Bentley Mulsanne give you over the Flying Spur for example?
Twelfth Monkey

I really like that.  A subtle modernisation of the big Bentley.  And yes, the pictures in the magazine look much better.

It will look even better on the road.

PG - Bigger,  sleeker (certainly looks lower and more gangster), more exclusive, more drama.  Makes the Flying Spur look very dull, and a lazy piece of design to boot.

With full acknowledgement to the Life of Brian I just cannot resist writing -
OK, OK, but apart from bigger,  sleeker, more exclusive and more drama what does it give you over the Flying Spur.
