Bargainous Barge

OK, it's missing a service or 2 but this looks like a lot of car for the cash. Perhaps get a thorough checkover before buying.

I'm tempted to suggest even at that price it's on the steep side.

Retail £12500 ish
Private £9-£11K so you are probably right although it was the cheapest F10 of that spec I could find.

Seems used prices have taken a tumble then as it's only £3K more than I sold my 2006 Merc for 12 months ago.
Michael

I'd have had that down as an £8k car. It's very high mileage (I know it's not really but the buying public doesn't think so) and an undesirable spec being petrol and non M-Sport.
However, every time I look at the prices of barges like this I am reminded of the Audi A8 Avant they never made. When they were first mooted I was looking forward to prices dropping like stones.

MILEAGE 131016, 1 OWNER FROM NEW,MOT MARCH 2017,BMW SERVICE HISTORY(5 STAMPS,LAST SERVICE 96770 ON 07/10/14,

With 131k on the clock and no service history for the last 18 months and 35,000 miles, he still wants £10k?

A7 Sportback on my list too. Heading nicely towards £10K
Martin

I agree that it's a couple of thousand too much and I'd be very worried about the service history, but it is a lot of car for £10,000. †There was never a luxury edition, but it's a good spec.

I found the A7 to be a huge disappointment.

So that's two turbo's with the same oil going around them for 35k? Ticking time bomb, shame as with a service at 110-115k it would be a peach

At £55k perhaps, but not at £10k.

Having been a passenger in my father's one, which is mega-diesel version but in some sort of Luxury spec rather than S-Line, I confess it's jolly nice. Has a rather more swoopily stylish interior than most Audis and made a bloody good growl for something supping from the Devil's cup. He seems to like driving it too.

Also we were at a function last week at Petworth where one of the other guests turned up in a very smart S7 in what at a guess was Racing Blue Mica - a deep electric blue with just a hint of indigo-purple that was seriously nice.
Martin

it might be different at £10k, but assuming everything depreciates at the same rate, probably not.  It's not a bad car at all, I was just expecting more from the interior (wish it was more A8 than A6), the ride was awful as was the gearbox.  The Biturbo has a proper auto so I assume it's a lot better and air suspension would probably help too.

Perhaps it helps that my father's one has an interior swaddled in some sort of Exclusive extended vanilla leather and a lot of polished walnut meaning it feels rather Jaguar-esque.

Surely that's essential for all barges?
Tim

I think that BM's a bargain, after all you're getting a lot of wheels thrown in for the money!!

Your father has form on odd specced Audis. Didn't he have an RS4 (or was it an RS6?) with SE seats and wood trim?

I'm sure that makes a big difference.  The one I drove was all black (S Line) and fairly standard.

Yep.

He had a dark metallic green 2006 RS4 Avant with the comfort seats, round steering wheel, normal mirrors and walnut dash, but also MTM-tuned for extra shits and giggles...

...then a 2010 S5 Sportback which was dark metallic brown with big wheels and a black leather interior matched to somewhat eye-catching "Exclusive" wood trim that was a yellowish colour...

....and now the 2013 A7 biturbo which is Dakota Grey (which is a warm bronzey-grey similar to BMW's Sepang Bronze) with the beige and walnut interior....and some MTM tuning for added S&G.
simonp

Hope it's out of warranty. Audi are very savvy at working out if a car has been tuned and will add notes to a car's service history if it has. These will state something along the lines of the warranty no longer applying to any engine or transmission parts.

Google Audi and TD1 flag.
Racing Teatray

He had it MTM tuned before delivery by the supplying dealer in each instance, so I have to assume it's got some sort of official sanction.

Question for Martin. What is going on with the headrests in that 535? Some kind of mega-adjustable things?
Martin

They're the comfort seats, which have an extra pad on the front of the headrest.  Mine go up and down electrically, but don't have the pad

They're the comfort seats. Mine do that as well: you can fold the headrests round your head. Don't ask me why though....

I feel enlightened. Thanks!
