Auf Wiedersehen, Max?http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=38299
Can't say I'll be sorry to see the old fucker go.

Hope it's true.
Everyone else though has Max declaring that we will stand.

It's on the BBC website, so it must be true.

Stake through the heart - that's the only solution.

There really is, nothing new under the sun. Perhaps they have a deal to film the sequel.

Yep. Get the teams to sign then renege on what you'd agreed to do. I don't believe for one second that the agreement to rejoin F1 would have happened without the teams believing that he was off.

One of their previous reasons for forming a breakaway was that they'd reached an agreement, only for Max to change it unilaterally. Leopards and spots spring to mind.

He really is a predictable, boring old fart.
If he wanted to do politics he should've done it properly.
He's supposed to be the president of motor racing but he'd be more suited to a 1970s style dictatorship in Africa or Central America.
Do you think he lists Robert Mugabe as one of his friends*?
*That's a hypothetical question as I feel it likely that Max doesn't count people of that colour as a potential friend in any circumstances.

Well, Max has actually put in writing to the FIA that he will not stand again. So, that's it then - until someone else upsets him.

But will Jean Todt be any better? I have a feeling he will be very much Mosley lite.

I can't be the only one expecting Max to turn round and say that he's been begged by so many people to stand for re-election?
I don't like Jean Todt* and I'm sure Ari Vatanen would be a better choice.
Mind you JT has been involved in rallying, Le Mans stuff and F1 so maybe he won't be biased to one in particular.
*I read that he's a workaholic with a 7 day a week habit and my limited experience of people like that is that they're generally arseholes of the highest order

Perhaps not to a particular type of motor sport but I would expect Ferrari would continue to operate under more favourable terms than the other teams.

Jean Todt has announced his candidacy - and to continue the work of 'President Mosley'.

Have you read last months Motorsport?
I never realised that Ferrari not only got a large bribe - to stay in F1 - but they also had a right of veto over any new technology, possibly going back about 10 years.
So remember when McLaren got told to stop using the fiddle brake and Renault had to withdraw the mass dampers after a season and a half?
It's pretty shocking that such blatant favouritism went on for so long and doubly shocking that McLaren got fined $100million when Ferrari had inside information on some of their new stuff over the years.
Still I suppose the FIA had to pay Ferraris bribe somehow.

Tim, that's what my comment was alluding to.

Wasn't sure if you knew or were just going along with what has been mentioned a few times as mere speculation.
Mind you I think there may be a few (million) Ferrari fans on forums that should be sharpening up there (metaphorical) pencils in anticipation of submitting a grovelling apology to those who said there was a Ferrari bias.

Having read Sutcliffe's column this week in the autocar I'm even more in favour of Vatenen.

I'm not sure Jean Todt's statement that he'll continue with Max' work is good for his cause.
I reckon that all the bumlickers who supported Max might realise they've been had at various times and JT might come across as more of the same thus shitting on his chances.
Ari Vatanen has always come across as a nice man and on that basis I'd much rather see him get the job.
