Aston Martin DB11

Spy shot leaked, rear end appears to show a flying buttress style C-pillar:
PhilD

BMW i8 style rear pillar?

Looks very promising.
Racing Teatray

Curious front wheel arch?
Scouse

Yeah, looks like the vent blends into it. Hope it's just a shit 'shop. Is it a flying buttress or just a tightly wrapped rear screen? There doesn't seem any sign of it on the opposite side.
BeN

I do find that quite stunning. Hope it doesn't disappoint.
Nelson

that looks fabulous, much more elegant and desirable than a Ferrari in my mind. Don't think they are flying buttresses. I hope the rook pillars panel is available in a contrasting colour. Like that a lot
Michael

Looking at the pictures on Autocrat of the mule it looks like there is a vent rather than a flying buttress:
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news...tin-db11-launch-geneva-motor-show
It does seem that the vent does indeed blend out of the wheel arch. Looking forward to seeing what they've come up with.
PG

That does look stunning.

Although I suspect that is a lash up photo? It does not look symmetrical at the back. And the front wheel seems to be turning left.
Frank Bullitt

Does nothing for me.

You can see a shadow at the right edge of the picture so maybe its pulling out to go round something?

I like the original Vanquish more.

Looks expensive.
PG

Looks good. I was interested to see the spy shots of the test cars interior which I'd not noticed before. Looks like a good raiding of the Merc SLS parts bin has been undertaken.

Indeed, lots of AMG GT in there. TFT use also interesting.
Nelson

Here it is and my good lord that is truly stunning
If that's not the most beautiful car in the world right now I'll eat my hat. Wow so perfect

Finally unveiled:

At least it's a new design, but initial impression is it's a bit busy, lacking the simple beauty of the original DB9 and V8 Vantage models.

Needs a closer look and to be seen in the meal but on first viewing I agree. In some ways Astons had been going that way (compare original Vanquish, DB9 and Vantage to later models) however the DB10 has wonderfully simple lines and details. It's also a shame that the floating C-pillar/flying buttress from the DBX seems to have been replaced (faked) by a strip of black plastic.
boc70

Is that front wheelarch / vent treatment for real?  Wheelarch looks rather pointy in that first shot.

(ETA - been pointed out before, and no wonder)
Martin

Agree that it's a bit busy, but still stunning.
Nice Guy Eddie

One to see up close as I'm not convinced by those photos.
Michael

The Volante should solve the fussy roof.

Agreed, and we will a week today !

Looks like it's got a lift-off hardtop already!
Blarno

Not impressed.
Dr. Hfuhruhurr

Looks a bit odd in photos - as if the roof hasn't been fitted properly. Looking forward to a closer look at Geneva next week.

Boom!
Nelson

the 'floating' roof with what looks like contrasting side panels is the new detail I absolutely love about it.

That in grey with brushed aluminium roof side panels

How much would I get for a kidney these days?

New favourite car. Truly epic
Racing Teatray

I quite like it. Shades of i8 about the rear 3/4s but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

but without the "shitting a 911" thing!

ds240

I need to see some more pictures, but it looks alright.

Not sure about the c pillar. Looks like an air intake, but for what on a front engined car? Maybe aero, but nothing obvious it would serve from the rear shots. We will see.

At least it moves the design along a bit from the current look. Though db9s and Vantages still look good.
franki68

Looks like an Aston Martin copy of a jaguar copy of an Aston Martin .
JohnC

I don't find anything attractive about the front wing/vent treatment. I quite like the car from the back but it doesn't have the real want factor that other AM's have.
Michael

More pictures of it on Autocar including a few taken in the design studio where Marek Reichman unveils the car before Steve Cropley who looks like one of those North Korean note takers around the 'dear leader'.

I do like Cropley, and his passion for cars cannot be questioned, but he is one of the least objective journos out there!

Hours of fun: http://db11.astonmartin.com/home/configure

Liking Ocellus Teal, Ultramarine Black and Marron Black for the exterior, with black roof strakes.

Bitter chocolate (upper) and Copper Tan or Lords Red (lower) interior with Spicy Red contrast stitching and dark ash trim...

Nice.

well, that's this evenings entertainment sorted. I could be some time
PG

It looks good, but colour dependent. The roof panels definitely need to be in the same colour as the bodywork though. Otherwise it reminds me of a Citroen Pluriel, which is not a good thing fort an Aston.

The interior looks to be a big step forward.

I loved the pureness of the original DB9 and the V8 Vantage.  For me every Aston since those has got more fussy. I guess that is the trouble when you  product such a beautiful piece of design. How do you follow it?
Blarno

Revolutionary design from AM there.
Martin

I had a good look at the pictures last night and I still think parts of it are overly fussy, but the interior is fantastic and I like some of the details like the AeroBlade which is better than sticking a spoiler on the back.
