Alpina B5

605hp and 4WD, 3.5 sec to 100kmh and a 205mph top speed.

It's going to be expensive, too much for the new models interior unless you spend a small fortune extra and I really don't like the Alpina logo on the front spoiler (can you have it colour coded?) or the stripes and the wheels still need updating but they do suit this a bit better and the power train sounds like it will be quite something.  As before, the estate is much better looking than the saloon.

The estate looks mega

I really like the estate and the new wheels look better without the pain in the arse centre caps. Hope they bring the petrol wagon over. May make more sense than the diesel now.
Martin

That's the petrol estate and I took the info / pictures from the UK website so it looks like we're getting it.
Michael

I read elsewhere, Autocar I think, that the petrol might be restricted to saloon only. Hopefully they'll bring both across and with diesel being on the naughty step it might be the only option.
You can have the lettering on the grill unstickered. It's embossed so still readable.
Martin

They're both detailed on the UK website.

Pretty sure if you went to Sytner Nottingham with your debit card they'd sort you a B5 Touring.

I've posted these on FB. Looking forward to some mad German speccing one to the moon this year so I can buy it later. Although I hope someone does the same with that Porsche wagon.

Stupidly the M5 is supposed to have the same power and 4wd, making the B5 Touring the Alpina to have if you want to stand out.

And yes you can have the logo in body colour.
Martin

I'm sure you'll be able to find a mega spec Panamera in the UK.

It does!

It's intersting that as each new M car becomes more in your face, then the Alpinas look understated. And hence even more desirable v the M car (to me anyway).

The Gorilla looks utterly sedate. The F10/11 front end is really quite nice (the E60 Alpina was pretty vile to my eyes) and similarly the E90 Alpina's didn't look as nice as the M-Sport front end whereas the current 3-series Alpina is nicer (IMHO) than the M-sport treatment.

This looks terrific as either a saloon or estate. I don't think that M Cars look overly showy anymore. As M Sport editions have proliferated, the actual M Cars don't look obviously different anymore.

This is nice, but we went over to BMW, and tried out two variants of the M760Li - sport and luxury. I would take either ... or both.
Martin

As I've said before, there's a big difference between the latest 5 & 7 series.
