A deal has been reachedIt looks as though there won't now be a breakaway and a deal has been reached between the teams and the FIA.

TBH I thought this may eventually happen anyway.

Hmm. It's on Autosport as well, and they don't normally jump the gun on things like this... but let's wait and see what the teams say.

Got to be more pleasant than hospital food, no?

Looks like it's confirmed, then: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/76498
Thank Christ for that.
Now if we could just keep the British GP at Silverstone, bring back Montreal and keep the Japanese GP permanently at Suzuka, F1 would look in pretty good shape.

Now it's time for Bernie to go. I know he will not reduce the cost of holding a gp to realistic levels so if he could also take a long walk off a short plank it would be all set for forward movement. One out of two is not too shabby though.

Max and his cronies still seem determined to screw things up.
"However when Brawn arrived at the Nürburgring, where both the Sporting and Technical working groups were due to meet for just such a purpose, he was told his opinion was of no regulatory value since his team was not technically entered into the 2010 championship."

There is also a rumour that the three new teams granted entry into F1 in 2010 were only allowed in because they agreed/forced/persuaded to use Cosworth engines. This was obviously a political tactic so any new teams wouldn’t be tied to a manufacturer. Giving FIA the upper hand.
Might explain why prodrive were overlooked.

It's all getting exceedingly tedious, is it not?
I confess to not watching F1 these days, Button's success notwithstanding, and all this petulant fuck-wittedness from both sides does nothing to endear the sport to me again.
WRC, MotoGP.... two examples of motorsport (relatively) unencumbered with such nonsense and extremely entertaining to boot!

So Max agrees a new deal with teams, then says that they are not entered for next years championship? I think a FOTA series would be rather good, it would include all the famous teams and drivers and new entrants, and the new entrants would not be forced to use Cosworth engines as well: http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=38350

They all seem utterly intent on kicking themselves - and us - in the balls. Repeatedly.

Yup.
But they're so far up their own arses they don't realise that some of the viewing and PAYING public are getting pissed off with it.
I'm not sure I'd say the WRC has been a success either as, like Group C racing, whenever it has become popular the FIA has hamstrung it with some stupid rules or limitations to ensure it doesn't 'compete' with their cash cow baby F1.
It's as if they don't think motorsport fans are capable of being interested in more than 1 series which, perhaps in the old days of poor TV coverage, might've been true due to budgetary restraints but now that you don't have to attend a race to see it there's no problem with watching all the motorsport that goes on.
Hell, I even watch NASCAR if I can.

I still find F1 interesting, in the sense that the cars are the quickest machines around a road course, and sound unique. I like a lot of the drivers too, but there are other series out there with plenty of good racing.
Series like WTCC, GP2 and DTM give fans what they want, exciting racing. These series are just as professional as F1, just without the politics. Max has not cared about the fans for ages now, he thrives in taking people to court instead and being stubborn.
This is why I want a FOTA series, its about time that the pinnacle of motorsport had a fresh start, but not so different from F1 ( similar cars, drivers etc) that it confuses fans. From what some publications have been saying, even if Max does go, his influence will be there for years to come. So the new president could just be Max's protege.
And what sort of joke will F1 be next year? You can imagine, the reigning world champions (Brawn) not even in F1.
