530D MSport Saloon

Just had an email from BowkerBMW in Preston offering a new 530D Auto MSport with SatNav, Metallic, LED Headlights, Cruise, Leather, Heated Seats for 2,000 deposit and 349 a mth for 4 years. BMW put 14,500 in to the deal (c32% discount) and there is a balloon of 16,500 if you want to own it at the end.

Is that plus VAT? If not, it's a stellar-deal - I assume it's not the new model!

No those are VAT inclusive figures but for the old model.
Roadsterstu

That is quite a deal.

Final sales push before the new 5 comes along but that makes it about 35k if my mental maths are correct. The new 530d saloon starts at 47k so that's got to be a pretty good deal with all those options thrown in.
JohnC

And the 35K includes all the costs of finance which the 47K doesn't.

So, what do we think I'll be worth at the end of the period vs the balloon payment?
JohnC

4 years on with a new model out, handing it back might be the best option!

That was my thought. Buying at 3 yrs old for 16,500 is probably the best option.
Michael

What's the mileage limit on that?
JohnC

Just checked and it is 8,000 miles pa

That's where all these things fall down, not nearly enough.

If your plan is to hand it back after 4 years then you're right. If you intend to trade it for something else it's not.

How come?
Martin

Only 8,000 miles is the issue, that not much.

You'd still get hammered with an excess mileage charge which may be softened by getting another BMW but you're very much tied into them.

If you get another one they will be happy to retain the GMFV so long as the wheels are pretty much pointing in the same direction, if you intend to hand it back they will go through it with a fine toothcombe.

As a way to buy a new 5er that you intend to own outright it still looks like excellent value
