360 Kinect

Anyone bought this or intending to?

I wasn't really up for one but Tina and the kids wanted it so ours turned up yesterday afternoon, last night it was re-packaged to be sent back, our lounge is too small and not quite the right shape, thus it doesn't work particularly well.

I did have my doubts and scoured the website, before we bought it, for recommended room size and dimensions but just couldn't find any info.

Anyway I'm not bothered, I know it would have ended up like the Wii, used loads for a few weeks and then forgotten about and I'm also pleased as I won't have to be sharing my X-Box with anyone.

My daughter wants one (with Kinectimals), but I worry our front room is too small too.

Though it might encourage them to keep the place tidy I guess?

Really?  It has been plastered all over the net in my experience.  I think you need 8 feet back from the TV and 6 feet on width, something like that.

We have since found dimensions on forums, where there are very many disgruntled owners, six feet in front for one user and 8 feet for two, unfortunately we just don't have that amount of un-clutered space in our lounge.

Is it only for use with family type games at the moment?

I'm worried if I find I need to get one then I'll have to play shooters with the curtains shut in case my neighbours think I'm having James Bond fantasies

Won't be rushing out to get one anyway. Our Wii - a Christmas present last year - is still in its box.

At the minute its mostly party games though there are some slightly more serious ones in the works.  Forza 4 will apparently use it.  No convinced myself, skeptic all the way me.

I am more of a curtains shut, lights off, slumped in the corner of my sofa, by myself gamer, I don't like all of the jumping about social gaming.

I bought myself a nice high-backed chair.

I have got two of these, but only the cheapo ones without arm rests.  They are very comfy, can lounge away for hours and not get a numb arse!

Theyre called X-rockers and there are some bling ones they do.

Nice chair.

No idea what Kinect is.

Turn 10 are being forced to add it to Forza, instead of developing something worthwhile for the franchise.

Expensive add-ons like this have a history of failing and I can see many disappointed families this christmas when they find out their house isn't big enough to run it properly. I definitely can't see many retailers putting off potential customers by warning them their house is possibly too small.

A video of Kinect filmed with a "nightshot" camera.

As long as they give you the option to only use it for head tracking I am all for it, I still want to use a pad (or wheel) to drive the car!

A decently implemented head tracking system would be great...

This is pretty impressive - Kinect has been hacked.
