17 plates

They're out tomorrow but for reasons I cannot fathom my mother is getting her new car today. I did argue that the new plate would be worth slightly more at resale but she wants the car and that is that.
Bob Sacamano

Leasing company has been on the phone, apparently I'm getting one next Thursday.

^^^ What are you getting?
Martin

We had friends round on Saturday and she's just picked up a new A3 the previous day.  I hope she got a good deal for getting it last week, but I didn't dare ask.

I saw a couple on Sunday but they were outside the Ford dealer so don't count.

It'll be another 320d MSport. In grey this time. To be honest I'll be sorry to see this white one go; everyone comments favourably on the red leather.

If it's any consolation, my mother got her new Countryman earlier this month and the dealer had insisted it had to be registered before the end of Feb. But since the discount was great, stocks were running out and my mother will keep it for probably 8 years or so, it didn't seem to matter much.

Yes, we had the same experience with the red leather in the M135i. It seems to be something people can't resist commenting on.
Humphrey The Pug

I've got three going tomorrow and a further 3 over the course of the rest of the week and a few more over the remaining month; 10 or so, plus whatever extra I can pick up over the course of the month.

This March for us is looking to be a good one, better than previous ones from the last few years.

My best ever March was about 10 years ago, I sold 32 and handed over 36; I earn't well and I was also knackered!

What about the way it shows up the dirt?
Chris M Wanted a V-10

I think I'm giving the new plate a miss this time round, unless some decent deals come up towards the end of the first quarter on, say, a Kuga loaded with extras/options or something else that may take my fancy (and that isn't coloured white)

Ours never did particularly that I noticed. In fact the saddle leather in the new 440i seems worse in that respect.
JohnC

I've just seen my first 17 plate - a Passat CC filling up at the petrol station next door.

When we ordered our Mini it was in November with the idea of March 1st delivery (which would have been the same day that my VXR was planned to arrive), but there was a better deal by having it before the end of December - 10 years later I doubt the difference between it being 56 or an 07 has any significance.
Roadsterstu

It usually seems to be a week or so into the new registrations before I start seeing some but my first 17 plate was at 9.15 this morning, just around the corner from home on the next street. A blue Cashcow.

Our 320 has the red leather and at 70k miles it looks almost like new, even the side bolsters.
PG

Yay! I saw my first 17 plate.

A Kia Venga driven by an old biddy. The power of the grey £ and all that. Bit of a let down really.
the other ct

A Mercedes B-class, I didn't know they still made them. It also looked filthy, the grit on the road combined with rain showers and sunny spells on black paint gave the appearance of week's worth of muck.
Boxer6

First 17-plate today, and the only one so far, was on a Merc E220d.
gooner

First today a colleague had a new Mitsubishi Outlander hybrid delivered.

I was referring to the outside re Chris wind up pics...
Tim

Ah. Ours hasn't been washed since sometime in January and is spectacularly dirty

Anyway I saw my first 17 plate last night - a Ford Fusion. Dull, dull, dull.
cbeaks1

A Fusion ?

Ah no, its called an Ecosport

It's dull anyway.
Michael

First I noticed was a Ford Edge, or it might have been a Kuga, although I suspect the bright l blue Leon R might travelling behind me might also have been a 17.
Martin

Saw my first this afternoon, a white Macan, being drive very tentatively onto the roundabout outside Porsche Silverstone.  That's the only one in about 500 miles since the morning of the 1st and I have been looking.
Andy C

Saw my first 3 today, all JLR

black Evoque, black XE and a new grey Discovery.  There's no doubt it is/will be a great car but I still remain unconvinced by the back
Giant

Saw what most be most odd first 17plate, one of those little single seat road sweeper things that looks like it's escaped from Robot Wars.

Since this post I've seen half-a-dozen more 17-plates, and I can only assume our local Audi dealers have been doing a roaring trade as all but one have been that marque! The lone exception was the F-pace I saw earlier today.
simonp

Haven't seen one yet.
Bob Sacamano

Got mine today, some daft bugger forgot to tick the reversing camera option!
Racing Teatray

What's the spec then apart from Mineral Grey and no reversing cam?

Saw my first 17-plate yesterday morning. An SLK in a sort of bronzey-grey colour.
Grampa

Finally saw my first on the 6th - a neighbour's car (Audi A2) - a day later it had a private plate.

I think it's just standard Sport spec with auto. Interior is black Dakota leather with aluminium trim and gloss black highlights. The aluminium looks quite smart actually. Other than that it has nav, DAB, heated sports seats, 19" wheels, LED lights etc. The mineral grey looks good too. I'll post up a pic when I've washed off the bird crap it seems to have acquired already.
Tim

The aluminium trim gets bloody cold at this time of year and seems to stay that way during the commute.
It's a shock every time you brush against it
cbeaks1

I've just seen a 17 plate M4 and M3 being delivered to Thrifty rental in Huddersfield. I wouldn't have thought there would be much demand.

About  seven 17regs in one day -including Jag F -type and Merc E class coupe

Ain't seen a new-reg Passat CC in ages

Didn't think they still made them.
Nelson

my first was only yesterday, strange given I've been on the road most days, but nevertheless it was an Audi A4 Avant which in non S-Line spec and in a dark blue looked rather underwhelming and I can't help thinking that the next 17 plate I saw which ironically was another VAG estate product, this time a Passat Estate in R-line trim looked rather more purposeful and much more desirable
simonp

Finally saw one the other day. Rather appropriately it was an A3.

Didn't catch the plate, but I just saw a facelifted Leon Cupra SC. I thought it was a bit meh when I saw pictures, but it looked much better in real life.

So what are your big sellers? And how is the new Scenic doing?

Huge demand from the local Asians. Young muslim lads rent them for weddings and parties.
