So, if you want something similar but with a more fashionable badge, you have to spend £56K?  I'm sure that there are going to be spec differences, possibly significant ones, but the S4 starts at £34k (to the VXR's £31k), has seven more ponies, similar size and pace, 4wd, and lower carbons.

Croppers getting a little carried away, I fear.

Indeed. I'll have some of what he's been sniffing.

I can't believe that!...

Maybe he is overcompensating for his mega sulk that the Insignia beat his baby, the Fiesta to CotY... Or maybe he is just sticking to his age old trait of over exaggerated love of pretty much everything. Vauxhalls seem to have joined his list of ALL Fords, Jaguars and Land Rovers (and Berlingos) as cars which can do no wrong.

I quite like Steve Cropleys writing but I tend to find alot of his scribblings are tainted by the newest is always best syndrome, so when i read his articles i always give room for a certain amount of new metal blindness.

I have absolutely no evidence to back this up though i should add.

Maybe he's right in a way about the Insignia though.
Who would pay the full price for one at the moment?

Realistically there should be enough discounts available for it to undercut the opposition by at least £10k?

My local Saab garage had a top of the range 9-3, list price £36k, for sale at £25k.

Seeing two good write-ups for Vauxhall and the twattish X6M being a bit of a let down to drive made my week.

(You can get a lovely red interior for the X6M, though...)

The X6M's engine sounds like old-school Audi, not M.  As does the handling.

(considers paying 36k for a 9-3)

I think it was fully loaded but they had the full list price on the roof plus the discounted price so I reckon there would be more to come.

I think it was the 9-3X

Maybe the £35k saving is based on what it would be worth at a couple of months old?

I think I might just stretch the extra £3k to the S4 if I was buying new!
