I have just spotted this for sale, which was our wedding car. If I had the money I would be seriously tempted

You can afford it. Just rent it out for weddings. Like the current owner does. Simples!

Do people really pay that sort of money for those old cars?

eg http://www.vintagerollsroycecars....76/1909-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/
1.6 Million for that ???

and half a million for this (abomination IMHO):

'Our' Phantom was owned by a RREC member and only hired out on an occaisional, low key basis. Another one of his is in the dealer's stock list, so it looks like he is having a clear out.

A decent early Silver Ghost can easily go for 1M +, since it is considered by some collectors to be the ultimate RR of all time and so, therefore, the ultimate, ultimate car of all time. The one in the link is a fully restored, 'parallel bonnet' model, with Roi de Belges coachwork, making it very similer to AX201, the original Silver Ghost and so is, for some, the Holy Grail of RR cars.

The Frua car is a matter of personal taste. My money would go elsewhere.

I saw that Frua RR in St Moritz a few years back. It is vast and very ugly.

It does look like the customer meant to send them a Corniche and sent them a Phantom by mistake.

I was actually surprised that "your" Phantom was only 115k. I expected it to cost much more.

+1

Seems an absolute bargain in the current* market of stupid prices for 'modern' classics. It sees almost a viable business proposition at that price given the market for wedding/prom cars.

Perhaps this should be last weeks market, who knows what the 'current' market actually is.

Well, I think that's fine too and even more suitable for usage but not just staying in a garage: http://www.truck1.eu/other/cars/r..._cloud_iii_oldtimer-a1720741.html

Assuming it's basically sound, the car in the ad above looks pretty good value to a UK buyer who wanted to repatriate it.

Would have been much better value a couple of weeks ago...

I just struggle with the chap in the top right of the ad. He looks somewhat shifty to me.
