I think that might be the most dull-looking car I have ever seen.

Fairly inoffensive and quite neat, though.  Looks quite a lot like a BMW X3 with a different front grille.

It honestly looks like it's been knocked up in someone's lunch hour and they've just dashed off this design using the existing parts bin and styling cues.

Can't really see the point - surely you buy the Touareg if you want something bigger?

Oh my word, that is dull. Middle-age dubbers will crawl over each other's fondu sets and pampas grass to get to that

That's not exactly exciting looking is it?

When I was in the US in December I had a passenger ride in a previous generation Tiguan. I could  not believe how shonky, hard and unappealing the interior plastics were. Do they make the US version with US crappy plastic, or were all the European ones like that too?

Might be a local market thing, the Jetta is built from less good materials for the US.

Generally agree that it is terribly dull. Maybe the Americans like it that way though...

The dashboard is lifted from the Golf Plus (first one, based on the mk5 Golf) - we looked at one of those in 2010 (2.0TDi GT, I think it was an '05 plate) and the interior was shocking in terms of quality.

Second. You're forgetting the Jaguar XE. Which is easily done.

I'm not even going to waste my time dreaming up insults for this.

Agree. Tiguan ticked lots of boxes for me, other than availability of 3.0 engine variant, but the quality of the interior made it an instant non starter.

Glad the new model looks pants, as with my sensible head on, it would be ideal for what I was looking for. Now the X5 purchase seems a far better option.

That only has 5 seats.  I agree it's dull, it's only a 7 seat Tiguan, nothing more interesting that that.

So anyone reckon that EV bus in the other thread has a snowball-in-hell's chance of being produced when VW are actually knocking out this kind of Mogadon-on-wheels?

Agree: this must be a US market piece of shit for hockey moms (sic) to cart the defense (sic) between ice sheets.

Actually, yes, because by 2020 or so, VW will need a credible EV range, including 7-seaters, so this is a place-holder.

It's apparently a slightly stretched Tiguan that has 7 seats, so that there is a VW-branded rival for the Skoda Kodiaq.

Doesn't stop it from being dull though.  Will be made in Mexico whereas the regular Tiguan is made in Germany, so handy for shipping (?) cross-border into the USA
