She didn't like the idea of a threesome then?

How about tickets to something she'd like - maybe combined with a weekend away in the town/city where the venue is.  Perhaps music, comedy, other entertainment, art or sport?

Other than some special jewellery I think Stunts hit the nail on the head. Whisk her away on a romantic city break with a theatre trip and a meal at a posh restaurant. If she's not in to theatre you could always try comedy, lots of comics will be touring soon.

That's already covered, going to see Kings of Leon in Hyde Park, stay in posh hotel then spendthe next day doing her choice of tourist things the next day, more in need of a keepsake kind of gift, something that will last.

Jewellery is probably the next best idea for a special birthday like a 30th, though if you're due to wed in the near future the keepsake piece of jewellery that will last a long time is hopefully covered too! But perhaps a necklace or a locket would be a lasting memento.

As you can imagine, I'm always having trouble getting gifts for the missus.

LOL!

If you've got the weekend away covered, then jewellery or a nice watch?

Or something from here...

It depends very much on how much you are willing/ able to spend. My wife cannot afford expensive gifts for me and says she feels uncomfortable if I lavish large amounts on her gifts.
The exception is if it is something from which we both get enjoyment.

Haha, yes, in the five and a half years since that post, we married, had two children, separated and as of three weeks ago, divorced. Good effort!
