It's a couple of weeks before kickoff of the new season and The Motor Forum league is back up and running again.

It's open to anyone and the code to join up is 472290-97237

Last years champion (James) is already in so we need some challengers.

Go to http://fantasy.premierleague.com and sign up. It's free and the only prize is bragging rights.

Matt could you sticky this for a few weeks so people can get involved? Thanks.

Ah...

Seeing that I will have plenty of free time I will be joining.

Er, do we have to register again or can we continue from last season?

Ok, have joined.

I also take part in the other game, the score prediction one. Anyone fancy having a go? I could set up a league too for that if anybody's interested.

But don't they carry on signing players after the season starts? Isn't the transfer deadline the end of August?

Yes Nick. So they'll just be added to the game.

I reckon the busiest time for fantasy football will be the week immediately after the end of August.

Ahem... yes. Go me go me etc etc.

Hadn't realised it automatically entered me for this League when I signed up again this year.
Still, bring on the challenge as I shall enjoy putting my powers of utter spawny guesswork to the test again!

See you on the field!

PS - Andy, may I say what a splendidly coloured kit you have!!

Predictably, E36 United have been bought by a French millionaire and are now known as 306 United

With the greatest of respect Matt.... I think I might just vomit!

Although why we have insisted on going back to the horrible 80's grey away kits I have no idea. Still, saves me another 40nicker I spose.

The only "lovely pair" in footy (excluding WAGS natch) are Messrs Keane and Torres. Just you watch!

Oh it's on....

Although Arsenal do look a bit lightweight with all the sales. We desperately need a new centre midfielder to replace both Flamini and Gilberto.

Another striker would be good too.

Stop panicking!

Flamini had one good season, Gilberto was old. Wenger's signed 2 midfielders and one's finally joined us now he has his work permit, so we've lost two in midfield and gained 3.

Eh?

I assume you mean Carlos Vela, who plays up front, though he could also drop back into midfield.

Samir Nasri I think is more of a replacement for Hleb on the flank.

The other signings are Aaron Ramsey, who's probably too young to be thrown into the first team immediately, and Amaury Bischoff, who is currently injured.

I forgot about Hleb, he was that crap. Vela is more attacking midfield, I can't see Wenger using him as striker.

Yeah, but how would he fit into the team?

I assume if Vela is playing, Fabregas might have to drop back a little to do a bit of defensive duties.

Just like how Arsenal is top of the table before the season starts.

(You're not in the lead by the way Mike. It always puts your own team on top, as we haven't actually started yet. )

My defence are all Evertonians...

But I'm sure Adebayor and Torres up front will overcome that.

Mike, your team strip is very appropriate. I'm wondering though if you should have called them Cornish Pasties instead of Pirates. After all, they're going to get a pasting this season..

My defensive line of Sol Campbell, Phil Neville, Joseph Yobo and Phil Jagielka all combined to ship in a total of seven goals between them.

That's not going to be any good...

I remain to be convinced. He's certainly a good player, but I think he blows hot and cold, and (like his predecessor) squanders far too many good chances.

That's due to Arsenal's playing style more than anything. If he is deployed as a 'normal' striker I think he might do better. Instead he's often tasked to do more, like go out wide and provide assists, thus limiting his ability.

Arsenal have signed Mikael Silvestre from Manchester United.

Must say I am surprised. I wouldn't think Fergie and Wenger would actually allow players to go to the other side, since they aren't exactly the best of friends.

There's more respect there these days, than hatred.

Pleased we have someone with championship-winning experience, because the knowledge he can impart to the youngsters will be worth his signing alone.

I was thinking more of something sinister, like Silvestre revealing Fergie's secrets to Arsenal.

I dunno. I'm kinda cynical that way. Even when I play Football Manager I never allow players to join my biggest rivals, unless the player is really a useless piece of tosh.
