I have Outrun for PS2, a very fun game. Wears a bit thin after a while though, which I suppose is the point.
Last game I brought was Midnight Club LA for PS3, which was surprisingly good. I thouht I would try something a little different after so many NFS games. Now waiting for 'Supercar Challenge' on PS3 to see if it is any good.. _________________

Have you heard that Race Pro is finally making its way to the Xbox 360 too?

Not for the graphics whores, but as a hardcore sim it supposedly blows Forza2 away (and by extension Gran Turismo) _________________ Remember - A gym without chalk is a heath spa... |

Oh yes, one I'm looking forward to after GRID seemed toned down for idiots. I do think those are decent enough graphics, though and I'm a stickler for looks in most cases. _________________

Picked up the new NFS today for £25 in Blockbuster's sale. It's not great by all accounts, but the short play I had on it when I got in seemed good enough to me. I like the level of customisation options, including being able to sculpt the stock bumpers and skirts to make them a bit wilder. The different front and rear wheel option is pretty neat, too.
Some great cars in it too; Veyron, Zonda F, Scirocco, Escort Cosworth ( ) the last and current M3 and many others. I upgraded to the collectors edition online and that added the Z4M and an SL65 AMG, so those are nifty to work towards owning. _________________

These are a little less junk status...
I think it's pretty neat having the new Megane in it; it's a great shape.
I lost this when the Police busted me.

Had a bit of a play on Forza 2 tonight and it's still great 18 months on. Bought another S2000 and gave it some choice upgrades and a custom paint job.
Checked out its telemetry on the replay and by freeze-framing, saw it pass the 10K threshold. That'd be pretty exciting in a real S2000.

I've gone back to playing Forza 2 having completed all the latest shooters.
It's still a great game.

I don't know if it's just me and Blarno who have a Wii but recently I've been playing:
House of the Dead Overkill (complete with 'Hand Cannon' gun for the Wii remote)
It's been years since I played an 'on rails' type shooter but this is brilliant. One of the most fun, violent and funniest games I've ever played! My PS3 owning brother agreed too! The story for the game is like a Tarantino zombie movie gone insane. It has plenty of weapons upgrades and other features, 3 sub-games and an unloackable 'Dual Wield' mode for using with 2 guns. Up to 4 can play too.
Manhunt 2
Another great use of the Wii remote system with the execution moves being about the most 'inventive' way yet. This game relies on stealth and planning to kill people without being noticed so I got a bit frustrated with it! This game is only about £8 as well.
Call of Duty - World at War
Great with the Hand Cannon or Wii Zapper gun - much more intuitive to control than the PS3 version.
I also got Need For Speed Undercover but haven't had much time to play it yet.
I'm quite pleased to see that the Wii remote system is now being adopted for more adult and violent games as it lends itself very well. The next game I want to get is Madworld where the aim is to kill opponents in the most inventive and elaborate way. I'd love a GTA game for Wii. _________________ It's so cold right now that I'm thinking of catching gonorrhoea just for the burning sensation. |

I have a Wii but just don't get it I'm afraid, they are very clever how they work and the balance board thing is brilliant, even though it puts me at half a stone heavier than the scales at the gym!
Tina loves it and does the Wii Fit thing daily.
I'll stick with the 360 _________________ Mummy, Daddy, Sissy, Sassy Baby. |

I've just got GTA:SA for the PC, complete with SAMI and various car skins that I have yet to install. It's impossible to play without a gamepad, so I coughed up 7 beans for a cheapo USB PS2 copy off the 'bay.
I reckon GTA with a Wii controller would be pretty cool, especially combat. _________________ Arms held out, in the Jesus Christ Pose. |

Need for Speed: Shift on 360 and PS3 has a pretty tasty package this season, especially as it's going back toward the sim route at long last.
If nothing else, Spa Franchorchamps is in it

This new Sky Player being previewed on Xbox LIVE has taken my fancy - if you can 'pay as you view' for Premier League games, I'll do it that way rather than stump up £33/month for all of Sky Sports.
Watching the game in a lobby with the avatars is pretty darn sweet, too.

Forza 3 announced and teased with some sexy in-car shots...
Also, Metal gear Solid announced for 360 and a Facebook app for the Xbox Dashboard.
Now there's a new motion-sensor camera, introduced alongside Steven Spielberg.

IS that tonights announcments? I got an email saying there would be big news tonight.
I knew they couldnt keep metal gear PS3 exclusive. If the 360 gets Killzone the argument for me bothering with a ps3 is pretty slim. _________________

The 360 outputs at 1080p, yet none of the games can run at it. Annoying really. _________________

Neither it or the PS3 can hope to run complex 3D games natively at 1080P.
Maybe the next generation will be able to? _________________ Remember - A gym without chalk is a heath spa... |

There is a copy of the 599 pic at 1080, even though the link has it as 720.
That was on the official Forza site.
IIRC, only 3 360 games are 1080 native, despite the boxes of most new games saying they're 1080p. _________________

A new racing game has creeped out onto Xbox Live as a demo.
Superstar V8 Racing is out in a couple of weeks and from the demo, whilst it isn't the greatest looking game and the damage is a bit weak, it does evoke memories of the proper Toca games. If they could get the Toca license that Codies don't bother with then it'd be a real treat. Plenty of cars and you can drive any of them in the demo.

Will do Matt. I haven't actually brought a game in ages, due to the lack of driving games on PS3. The game should be fun, with all those V8 saloons. Rather worryingly though, their seems to be few reviews of the game. _________________

I think it's because the game isn't based on a series known to the wider UK audience, is all. _________________

Probably true, and that is a good thing. I found GRID to be watered down for the masses, unlike old Toca's. Hopefully this game concentrates on racing and little else. _________________

Superstars V8 Racing is brilliant, you can have excellent battles with your opponents, the cars handle quite realistically (compared to other games). Try turning and braking into a corner, and the rear end will suddenly start to slide. That never happens on GT5 Prologue. Generally, smooth inputs are rewarded.
Beating everybody else and going faster becomes quite addictive, which is what a driving game should be about. Street racing games are okay up to a point, but can get tedious and repetitive.
It appears that the developers did not have a lot of time or a lot of money to make the game. This is evident in the cheap looking menu's and dodgy graphics, a lot of my PS2 games looked better. However, the gameplay is excellent. The car line up is brilliant, with BMW 550's, E39 M5's, C63 AMG's, RS4's, Jaguar S-Type R's, Cadillac CTS-V's, Chrysler 300C's and others.
The track line up is equally good, Algarve is an amazing track. Their is a 'training' mode, which is often referred to 'time trial' on other games. It allows you to practice your technique's and fine tune your car. I have just started the championship mode, its fairly easy at the moment. But I will have to see how hard it gets...
All in all, a great game. Well worth buying, this should keep me entertained until the new NFS (which is not going to be a street racing game, but a proper racing game) and Gran Turismo 5. _________________
