(I didn't know which forum to put this in!)

Inspired (if that's the right word) by Racing's Jensen/BMW find, here are some the the oddest engine/body combinations I have seen recently:

This is an MX-5 which is being fitted with a 5.3L V12 from a Jaguar:

A Rolls Royce Silver Shadow with a 1040bhp, blown 592 Hemi:

And a 1975 E12 5-Series BMW with a 7.0L V8:

(More on the BMW: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws...tem=180265522628#ebayphotohosting )

ISTR that the Jag V12 - being alloy - is lighter than the old XK six. Likewise wasn't the Rover V8 in the MGB lighter than the B series four?

Loving that 5 series incidentally.

That 5 series must be a serious sleeper weapon.

With a suitable amount of cash, I would attempt to build the following:

Mini 1000 with Ducati 999 engine.
Mk1 Escort with Focus ST engine.
Vectra B with Monaro VXR engine and tranny.

This green special was at Malvern at the weekend. I'm sure you'll all guess that it's based on a TR but what's under the bonnet?

Yes, a Stag V8.

Ha! Just before I scrolled down, I thought "Stag V8"!

Actually, the car to take a Holden VXR drivetrain would be the late 1970s RWD Opel Manta, preferably the 400 version.

And talking of Vauxhall (well, strictly speaking, Opel) projects, I'd forgotten what a huge influence the DTM Calibra was on German customisers.

Christ that MX-5 will fly.  It may not steer though and I assume the A/C will always be broken.     If it still has the ZF 3 speed it will spin in all three gears IMO.

One I forgot to add to my original list:

Baja buggy with a Subaru WRX engine. Much better than the VW equivalent!

Yes, there is a healthy cottage industry converting aircooled VWs to Subaru power. I must admit to wondering about a 2.2, with five-speed 'box in the Bus.

There a 2.3 veedub engine going spare up here, not in the same league as a WRX engine obviously....

Comes with a big end rattle and blue smoke for no extra charge.

There quite a few 3-rotor MX-5's around, which is surely the engine it was always crying out for?

All of these are interesting - and very, very desirable!

A 3.8 litre Jag engined Sprite:

An Austin-Healey 3000 with a Supercharged Chevy V8:

This is a V8 - in an original Mini engine bay!

And lastly, an Austin-Healey 100 into which has been shoe-horned a Jag V12:

The intake on that 3000 is ludicrous.

Yeah - I wonder if it needs the supercharger at all. It's not really that tall - just the low angle that's been adopted for the pic.

This TR5 was at the TR Register International Weekend a couple of weeks ago.

Here's the engine, 5 litres of supercharged Ford V8.

That TR seems to have remarkably narrow front tyres.

The SD1 in the YouTube link is just crazy!

That's because it was built to run as a dragster.

Any info on that Escort, Kraft?

What was it built for? As its got no windows, it looks like it was built for an oval race series, but I can't think of one that it would be legal for?

How about a Triumph Spitfire with a steam engine:

Rather than a Ford with a Spitfire (RR) engine, this is a Triumph Spitfire with a Ford engine - 2.3 intercooled turbo:

And this - why why why?

Lastly - I want one of these:
