Can't really tell from that angle, but some of the pictures on Google images look pretty good to me.  Door looks rather F1-inspired.

Hmm.  On first glance it's nowhere near as elegant a design as its predecessor.  I'll await more photographs.

Yes, need to see some proper / decent photos, as that looks awful and I doubt it will be.

Don't know about that one. I was never a fan of the 12C but the shape developed really well with the LT and into the sport series. This looks generic Supercar. A bit like that Lightning bolt thing

Which was the accusation for the 12C, too bland , too generic, (personally,  in the metal, I like them) and they have been trying to add some drama to it since. The Sports Series cars and the P1 show what the new design team can do with a blank sheet of paper so I expect this to be equally brilliant.

Some of the images here show something rather better-looking:

I don't know why but I find all McLarens curiously "meh".

There's something about the aesthetic from the F1 onwards that has never quite worked for me.

I can't understand the model lineage - there seems to have been a new one every 4 months since 2011.

You need to stop only reading about Porsches all the time.

That sounds about perfect to me!

The 12c was rather bland but they evolved it well. The P1 is utterly gorgeous, the 570 possibly more so, whilst I'd sell multiple body parts and family members for a drive of an F1.

I've not understood McLaren's constant tinkering and similarity of models, but is has undoubtedly allowed them to become big players in their market, from nothing in a very short time.

Speaking of which I saw a McMerc SLR on a flat bed on Tuesday,

+1

The car in the OP looks especially 1970s-childish.

I think they've got steadily better, in general.  And their very non-Ferrari-ness is a big plus as far as I am concerned.

Absolutely. Whilst I really like some Ferrari models, the brand as a whole is deeply unappealing to me.

The top photo has shades of Pagani Huyra towards the rear. Look forward to seeing the unveiled photos.

McLaren appears to be the supercar of the .com generation. Given the number of youtubers running them it seems McLaren could really capitalise on Ferraris failure to embrace social media.

Crumbs, that's challenging. The black bodywork ahead of the front wheel looks awful. No likey from this initial pic

I'm sure its done in the name of aerodynamics but in the side view that looks as if somebody has nicked a part of bodywork from above the rear lights

I like the geekiness to this:

Oh god, I'm enjoying McLarens humour!   Am I an android? Maybe this is part of the Turing Test and I've just failed!

Repeat my previous post. What on earth is that awful bit of carbon/black panel ahead of the front wheel arch?? That is truly dreadful.

Interior is something special though

Will have to see that in maybe white or grey, bright orange looks wrong

Challenging indeed.  Hoping it works better in the metal and carbonfibre than it appears to in the photos.

Might be at its best in a dark colour, which isn't unalloyed praise.

I love it. Challenging conventions and engineering led styling. I've been critical of McLaren constantly updating models rather than refining them before putting them on sale but they have come a very very long way in six or so years. Incredible really. I look forward to seeing more of this car.

This makes every other McLaren except the P1 look a bit last century - I think there will be quite a few used 650s on the market soon!

Well, I've sat in it, and viewed it from every angle, and I would swap vital organs and relatives for it. Game changer, in terms of construction, usability and tech. And deeply desirable, in the carbon.
