Not too many rally fans here I know, but an impressive achievement none-the-less,  and this year he was pushed harder than ever.

Well done Seb!

Outstanding once again from the Frenchy

Rossi claimed his 7th Moto GP title and 9th world title as well today - very impressive stuff.

It's impressive and he's a great driver, but I wanted Hirvonen to do it this year.
Loeb is a worthy champion but I think he's got it too easy. (I know he only topped the table on the last day and by a point).
I'd love to see him in a different team with a driver who actually want's to beat him as opposed to towing the party line and being a decent second place driver.

Rossi switched to Yamaha a few years ago and has won again, which is very impressive.

I would have liked Hirvonen to win, both te rally and the championship - he's put up an outstanding fight this year, and it seems only bad luck (?) stopped him.
'grats to Loeb though, an awesome achievement.

Likewise with The Doctor, too - the man truly is something special!

I've always been a rally fan since I lived in Derby at the beginning of the seventies. My landlady's  son rallied a Mini Cooper S and won the local club's championship. I was also a member of that club and, in fact, helped to organise rallies (up to National level) during the time I was there. We used to go to Clipstone Forest in Nottingham to watch the RAC and with my landlady's son and his wife later living next to Sutton Park in Birmingham, we used to watch it when it ran through the park there.

The trouble these days is that, with no British drivers in the mix, there's hardly any publicity. TV coverage is buried on Dave and there was very little in the newspapers. Had I not got Autosport, I would probably have missed it. As it happens, I did see the report at 6pm on Dave but half of that was taken up with the presenter pratting around with some bloke who claimed to be a comedian.

Well done to Loeb.

I watched the review on Dave yesterday and was, again, fairly disappointed with the coverage.

It's great that they show it but did we really have to have Dom Jolly being shown how to do j-turns or have a go at on-stage commentating?

I really don't give a fuck about which 'celebs' are at any given rally (Dave have had one at each this year I think) and I'd like to see a bit more footage from in-stage external cameras, i.e. not ones mounted in the car looking at the bonnet, etc.

In addition by the time of the first ad break we'd seen stage 1 and a quick shot/mention of 2 drivers and that was it.
Not much to show for 10 minutes of programme was it?

Have you forgotton the first 5 rallies of this year, where Loeb was unbeaten?

I've always been a huge fan of Loeb's (even though he's French) but I would like to have seen Hirvonen win it this year.

You have to question the standard of competition that Loeb's faced in the last 6 years, with only really the Fords to beat (Subaru were a spent force for their last few years). On the other hand, when Sainz and McRae were Loeb's team-mates, he showed them a clean pair of wheels.....

Conveniently, yes!

But that robs my post of the drama that I wanted it to have!

Hirvonen's Focus looked the business without its bonnet.

A fin achievement by Seb, shame about the crap coverage by Dave.  Why does it matter what various "celebs"  think?

The coverage on dave is spectacularly shit, i always record it and watch it in about 20 minutes.
Based on their coverage you would think there are only about 5 cars competing, you hardly get any coverage what so ever if your name isn't Loeb, Sordo, Hirvonen, Latvala and now and again sometimes Solberg.
They also have a soft spot for that waste of a drive Wilson.
The celeb bit is so crass its unbelievable.

It's one of the reasons why i have started to enjoy the IRC on Eurosport more as you get to see more of the field.

I think someone on here mentioned ages ago that it should just be called "The Sebastian Loeb Show".

I saw this briefly on Dave. The final standings seemed to show that only Focus and C4/Xsaras take part these days. Such a shame because I used to like Rallying. Nowadays the cars are so good they no longer slide round corners but are able to go round like their on rails. It's just no fun anymore.
